Having second thoughts accepting an offer. I accepted a general lit position at a big law (more mid law) firm in part to get out of an ID firm (where I did non-ID gov investigations work and some lit). I resigned but current firm countered to match pay if I stay. What should I do? I don’t want to give up on white collar/gov work but I do want out of the current firm. Do I reneg, take the internal pay bump, and wait for a better option or take the jump and try to pivot to gov work again later?

Working for a big insurance provider and currently at a grade 6 individual contributor role and want to get a grade 8 manager role. Managers make 40% more than my current salary on average. Is it crazy to think I would get offered that because it’s a senior position? I know 10% is a promotion raise at the company but that wouldn’t make sense jumping up 2 levels. Thoughts?

I have a partner that calls me multiple times a day to talk about updates on our cases. Sometimes just to ask “anything to update me on?” He’s known across all of the associates for doing this. We have motion sensor lights in my office and the sensor is far from my desk. Consequently, if I'm on a long WebEx, the lights go out and it's embarrassing. The building won't change the sensor.
