I can confirm that Paul Hastings puts its first years in cubes in NYC.

Some offices, particularly where real estate is $$$ like NYC, definitely have junior associates in cubicles or shared office situations.
I worked with a lawyer who was put in a windowless shared office with boxes and boxes of files under a staircase at a BL firm as a first - second year associate.
The Harry Potter treatment lol

My office just moved to an open floor flan space for everyone. Plan is to put some cubes in and do only hoteling. Again, for everyone.
Note, we are one of the firm’s smallest offices.
We have shared offices at my firm in NYC (meaning people alternate days they come in the office and someone else uses my office on days I’m not there). Summers, assistants, and admin get cubes or freestanding desks. Paralegals get offices.
But associates don’t get windows 😂 my windows go to the hallways. I have no idea what the weather is like most days as associates aren’t deserving of windowed offices

I’ve had an office my entire legal career. My judicial clerkship office was amazing actually (corner office surrounded by windows with room for a big conference table on one side of the office). At my first firm I had an OK office as well. My current office is also OK but I was told last week that I’d be moved to a nicer one soon with a good view.

Common for in-house counsel to have cubicles or hotel desk system (at least in my experience)
