Heading to Iceland in Aug 2026 for the eclipse, and 4-5 days of sightseeing. Plan to stay 2-3 nights in Reykjavik and need one more accommodation. Travel agent is suggesting Reykjavik as home base for day trips to the South, and 2 nights in the North at Hotel Budir on Snaefellsnes Peninsula.
I was under the impression the Southern coast is the place to be - should we be pushing to stay on that coast instead of Snaefellsnes Peninsula? If so, any favorite hotels / lodges ?

My partner will be traveling often to London, once a month for an year starting September. He is getting his visa through work (10 years, multiple entry, 6 months max stay, cost some $1000).

I have applied for standard tourist visa in the past and they are usually short term. It could be max 6 months, but they see your itinerary and allocate you few months around the itinerary
