$13k is a significant amount. I would ask them why the salary difference. I would also inquire if you are being offered the position of which you applied for. I’ve heard some stories where they offer a different position and that’s why the salary is different.
Make sure that you DO NOT take the job. I started my 1st job as a BSN, RN at $8/hour and have had to claw my way up in nursing, a historically predominantly female job where men are taken by the hand when they come into a nursing role and pulled up through both pay and role ranks. Of course, you may counter their offer with rationale and explanation. Don't cave in thinking they will come up over time. It won't happen.
If you manage to get a higher level of compensation you need to ensure that you won't suffer a deleterious effect of another type.

That’s a tough spot to be in! It’s definitely worth discussing the salary with them, especially given the costs of commuting. Don’t hesitate to advocate for yourself! Good luck!
Ask. Be honest. Happened to me before and that’s all I did. Still got the job, at the salary that was posted.
