Here’s the thing. Retail teaches you stuff no résumé ever shows. I’ve watched people walk in confident and burn out fast, and others start nervous, apologizing for everything, then quietly become the backbone of the team. The difference was never skill. It was support. When a workplace lets you ask questions, follow up, and be human, the job stops feeling like survival and starts feeling like growth.

This is so true. I have seen confident people burn out quickly and quieter, nervous people grow into the backbone of the team. Skill matters, but support is what determines who actually lasts and grows. When people feel safe asking questions, everything changes.

How do you handle people’s kids showing up on video meetings? Screaming, kicking, hamming it up, (wasting time.) Everyone else is coo-ing…I’m not a kids person. Heard a technique which is to drop off the call bc you “assume the call is over” (which seems like a great way to get fired especially if it’s a way higher up’s kids - plus it feels rather passive aggressive.)
