Hi where are you from?
Connecticut here and I agree with the gross wages. They’ve gone up slightly, but not nearly enough. I recently received an offer of $38/hour at a hospital, where I already previously worked at for 4 years. Currently making 35/hour. I have 13 years of experience in the field. I know that this is higher than in many places across the country but still not enough in my opinion. These scales are too narrow. How do we command a higher salary for permanent positions when they’re not willing to? I find it strange that they struggle to pay even 35/hr even when most hospital labs have hired temps for $60+/hr (and are probably paying the agencies well over >100 hour bc of benefits agency fees etc).
Louisiana here waiting to graduate as an MLS, currently $21 with differentials doing uo to moderate complexity testing. I was hoping coming out of this with my ASCP license I'd start at 32-35 but it's looking closer to 28-30 in lousiana with no experience. Not sure how but nursing attracts alot of type A people who fight for higher wages while I feel the majority of lab workers aren't so we've seen miniscule salaries.
Also feel like it's a lobby ploy to get legislation pulled to allow labs to just be outsourced completely from hospitals and that's why admin isn't too concerned filling the gap in the lab.
