I don't disagree... But it's work made for festivals.

Politics and schemes aside, what moves the jury is not necessarily what moves the audience. And I don't necessarily think this is a bad thing.

I often compare festivals to formula1 and things like that, we can see what is possible, but not what necessarily is real on our daily lives in the industry.

It should inspire us and should drive us to excellence, but we know that the rules of the day-to-day are different from Cannes work.

Take spread beats, for instance. It's such a huge production for such a tiny audience. It's obviously a festival made idea. But it is very cool, I like to see that, and I like to know there's this sort of possibility to play with.

Mischief has really good day-to-day work. Not festival work. Everyone at Mischief really knows how to win awards, though.

Cannes, however, is the worst festival of all. It's a huge pay to play circlejerk and while I try to make D&AD worthy work every year I don't give a fuck about cannes and I don't think my worth is tied to the festival enough that I feel the need to cater my ideas to it.

Regardless of that, the work was for real brands with a brief and a budget. Mischief makes ads. Cannes does not award ads.
