Yes I’ve been, it’s a bunch of talks around diversity: projects, initiatives, etc. And very supportive women and men. The thing about white feminism, though can sometimes make your eyes roll, is that when you tell them you want to be involved, they root for you and sincerely want to put you on a pedestal. That has been my experience anyway. They just don’t always know how to find minorities. So make them want you! Challenge them, come up with panel ideas for next year, etc. They’ll love it.
I'll be there too. The theme this year is being gender and the host is Luvvie, so hoping that it definitely goes beyond white feminism.
I’m going to the 3% for the first time too this year! In my opinion, the 3% is one of the few orgs that makes sure poc are involved with at the core. Even if the event was white feminism x 100, if you told them that I’m sure they’d be very open to hearing the problem and trying to find a the right way to move forward.
What is it?! Should I google 3% conference?
Go and don’t just make it be what you expect. Suggest what can be improved. This year’s theme is Beyond Gender - let’s make it integral to the movement EVERY year.
