Hi all,
I need some advice for those in the job I am about to describe & wish to gain additional insights from your experiences. Job I am interviewing for is a CyberSecurity Architect. Role is w/ a private holding company that owns several operating companies in manufacturing. The role of the architect is provide enterprise security solutions similar to a MSSP to the operating companies. There are standards the architect works on & around when providing and recommending solutions (cont. below)

Solutions include operational technologies, providing base configurations and providing best practice recommendations.

This is so far what I have been able to surmise based off interviews so far. For those in a similar security architect role providing MSSP based solutions, what do you like? What do you hate? What are red and green flags to look for when asking questions?

The thing to understand is, are you just designing the processes for the MSSP, or are you going to be responsible for running them. This will impact your work-life balance as if you are only designing the processes, you can expect to work 40 hours a week Monday to Friday with some overtime. If you are running the MSSP, then it is a 24/7 role and expect to be on call to respond to incidents.

Any resume writer referrals? I’m trying to make the jump into project management. I have 13YOE managing cross-departmental projects and people, and I’d like to shed the general EA work of calendars/travel/expenses. But recruiters just see my most recent role is EA and that’s all they want to talk to me about. I’m hoping a better written resume will help target algorithms to get my resume viewed for other roles.

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks

Was laid off in Sept. Unfortunately we will be seeing many more coming. It's what happens in a recession. Unfortunately I now also have my age against me. Not in a mentally good place at the moment.

Have any of you pursued a graduate certificate in cyber security? If so, did you find any value in it? I currently have Bachelors and Sec+. Hey Cyber friends! I’m a life long professional creative looking to get out. I’m fascinated by Cybersec/Infosec and have been learning a small amount. Tryhackme + YouTube + beginning to learn some python. However, I’m well aware that these baby steps don’t compare to the real job.

My questions: do you like what you do? Would you recommend the field or your discipline to a friend? What is the best and worst part of your job? Grateful for any and all responses. Thanks for letting me lurk! 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Currently stuck in risk but interested in Cyber. Have done one related engagement from a regulatory perspective. But a lot of posts here making me think it’s harder to break into than I expected (non-technical background). If you had a six sigma green belt / supply chain degree/exp., would you still go through the effort of going into Cyber or take easy risk money being offered / easier transition back to supply chain? 2-3 YOE and trying to decide career course, any advice highly appreciated
