I’m currently based in California with around 5 years of experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer. I graduated from a Canadian university and have recently interviewed for mid-level mechanical engineering roles with American and European multinational firms in Dubai. What would be a reasonable base salary and total compensation to expect for someone with my background?

How do firms see candidates seeking to lateral across practice groups? I’m a senior lit associate doing v well at my current firm but seeking a global relocation which might entail switching to a transactional practice. Thinking capital markets since I have a lot of experience in advising our clients of litigation risk when issuing debt etc. Would I even be considered (obvi I expect some cut in seniority)?
