The logic is elementary. While the interviews for a position are in progress, you (not you in particular) are not the only candidate being processed. There would be at least 6-8 more. Any company would offer the best amongst them. It does not mean you're not good; they found someone better. Keep your head high, you'll get a better one soon!

I can really use some direction. My background, I've worked 2 years in strategy and am currently coming off an exhausting year 2 in investment banking. I didn't particularly enjoy either role and am not interested in moving over to the buy-side or some monotonous FP&A role.
