Bain & Company I’m from Italy and will start my master’s degree at Oxbridge this fall. I got my undergrad from a target uni in continental Europe. I want to start my career in consulting, possibly MBB, in London. I know consulting firms tend to hire locally but I’d really like to work in London and that’s also one of the main reasons why I went for the Oxbridge degree. Yes, it’s wrong. No one should feel good about it.
100%. If they kill it on the small budget job you should give them the opportunity to bid on the big ones. That’s the only way a company can grow.
Yes, if you press any vendor for favors while knowing full well you have no intention of offering them chances to grow. That's taking advantage of a small business that is trying to grow their user base. Why not help them? It's not just bad for them (which it is--if they're giving you a discount they're sacrificing their financial health in order to produce your joa), it's also bad for you, as your clients will eventually expect this to be the norm. Look at the smaller jobs like training camp and groom a production company along to the big leagues. You'll forever have the respect and the favors of a production company you help to grow through offering great opportunities. Where is the harm in that?
Yes. More importantly, it’s very uncool and slightly elitist. It’s not easy to put your neck on the line and convince creatives to trust the little guy, but if they are a good partner to you you should return the favor.
Yes
Unless it’s good for them (exposure to teams / reel / etc.) as a one time deal. Otherwise shitty.
@EP4 - that's just as underhanded and shitty to all shops involved.

How about bidding a small shop against a big shop with different budget scopes to present different scales for the client?
