If you’re attending UFV, the likelihood of landing a Toronto B4 is very low because they don’t recruit there. They focus on the schools in Ontario given demand.
Frankly, even getting Vancouver will be tough but doable. That being said you can apply to groups Valley offices such as Abby, Langley, Surrey, etc.
You can transfer to GTA once you’re in but you’ll need someone at that level to be supportive. Keep in mind, there wont be support in your first year and even second year, unless you have a damn good reason…
Your career will be identical. Your social and networking opportunities will differ.
Other factors should be considered:
Where would you be closer to friends and family, especially for emergencies?
Where will you have access to overseas locations you are likely to visit? East Coast and Europe, or West Coast and Asia?
Toronto and Vancouver have distinct cultures. I characterize Toronto as more fast-paced and careerist, while Vancouver I find more evenly split between intensity on work and 'wellness'. Have you tried them both? Which one speaks to you more?
is it better to work in Vancouver or Toronto? Does it matter?
Doesn’t matter. Audit is audit, tax is tax. Once you’re more senior and want to look at other things, then it matters.
I haven’t tried them both. So far I have only tried Vancouver. I’m potentially interested in either going to consulting or finance or something else once I finish gettting my cpa. I also am interested in moving to London UK, Chicago or the SF Silicon Valley after I get my cpa. That’s why’s I couldn’t decide should I do Van or Toronto. Please give some advice
Reality is you need to focus on immediate steps. Have you done internships? Have you networked with anyone? Are you in final year with no internships? Are your grades good? Do you have meaningful extracurriculars such as president of accounting club? Are you the valedictorian?
