Hi! I’m from Portugal and considering working in the U.S. as a SOC Analyst. It’s something I’d love to do, but securing a visa and sponsorship seems tough. I feel like you either have to be really exceptional, or companies won’t bother, as they can just hire someone local instead of spending on sponsorship. For those with experience, is it worth pursuing? Any advice or personal experiences would be really helpful!

I'm in Oklahoma, and an avid Aldi shopper. Prior to COVID, my favorite merlot was routinely stocked there - under $6 a bottle and better than many $30 bottles I've had. It was by Burlwood Cellars. Sadly, supply chain issues have apparently done a number on Aldi's wine selection and it's not carried there anymore. I've searched high and low for a comparable merlot, but to no avail. I have enough work experience in network security to match 60-70% of job requirements for infosec positions. What is the standard yearly hike in IT Security industry in North America? I have worked for 7 months in Threat Intelligence in a company in Canada, and I got a yearly hike of just 3% in my first appraisal cycle. My manager says that you get 3% when you are meeting expectations but not going above and beyond. Is this the standard or am I being underpaid? According to me, I haven't gone above and beyond every day, but there are some things I did work on exceptionally well.
