I'm at a digital agency and can generally leave at 5. But we all have kids. So find the right culture.
Which agency, if you don’t mind sharing?
Check out Verizon. I heard they leave at 5 and are looking for women.
I also think you have to find the right boss and situation. Over my 20 years while raising 2 kids I have stepped in and out and of full time gigs to freelance and focus on family. Currently I’m in freelance mode and could not be happier :) more time for family and myself. My daughter leaves for college in 2 years. We don’t get this time back.
I left and went in-house. Leave at 5 daily with zero guilt.
Any chance this dream company is in LA??
Im at an agency and leave at 5. If there are days I need to stay in office late (maybe once a month at most), I have a few babysitters on rolodex to call. Have you already tried transitioning (and being firm) about leaving at 5? What were the results. I find a lot of moms say it can't be done, but haven't tried it yet.
If you have tried and the team or your boss completely disregards, then yes, probably time to transition companies.
I’m leaving at 5, and some days it’s fine and others I feel like I’m leaving my team high and dry, but I don’t have a choice as pickup is 5:30 sharp. My immediate team is understanding but they don’t have kids. I make myself available after the kiddos are in bed in hopes that it helps.
For those of you that went in-house, where? How do I find the elusive in-house gig? Also are there opportunities for senior level account folk?
Publicis 1, they won’t be labeled as account roles if they are in-house but depending on your level Marketing exec (VP, Director, manager, coordinator, etc) or specialty (digital, social, etc) are more likely to come up.
With two kids and needing to leave at a set time to make it to daycare pick up. I’d like to transition to something related (production) that’s more stable and predictable so I can get home to start my second full time job - mommyhood. Are in-house gigs better at maintaining a consistent schedule? Any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated
That sounds wonderful !
