Recent transplant to the area. One, not use to the weather yet ... and two, any recommendations on must-try restaurants? I love trying new foods and dining at different eateries, so I'm making a list of places to try!

The spots I am going to pretty frequently are the following:

- Cafe Medina (Brunch)
- Jinya Ramen Bar
- Gotham Steakhouse (fancy)
- Fanny Bay Oyster Bar
- Chambar (they have a fig cocktail that is 🔥)
- Minami (sushi)
- Ramen Danbo
- Nook (pasta)
- Sophie’s cosmic cafe (diner style brunch)
- Osteria Savio Volpe (pasta)

Forage is awesome - especially their brunch. Sandwiches at Bread x Butter Cafe are amazing. I also really love The Mackenzie Room. Was there a specific budget or cuisine you were looking for?

like

I second Forage and The Mackenzie room!
Add Red Accordion to the list.

Do you happen to be a fan of Japanese food? Dosanko has got to be one of my favorite Japanese restaurants and I can't get enough of their omurice. Ask for Luigi is also on the top of my list for Italian cuisines.

Get a reservation at Barbara. Yes, it’s worth the wait. Explore Chinatown for restaurants and check out Laowai.

There have been no bad suggestions in this thread so far, so wherever you go you’ll be happy and full. As for the weather, waterproof shoes for when it rains will be a game changer for you if you haven’t already gotten yourself a pair or two.

Bought my first club set online (used to rent) and I was bending a lot more than usual. Stopped by PGA store and found out I need 1” long clubs, so I returned my set and am on the lookout for new clubs. Any advice for 1” long beginner sets? Don’t seem to see that many online and there wasn’t much choice at the store…

I have just recently accepted a position as Director of Compliance at a Fin-Tech company here in Naples, FL.. My previous 17 YOE were strictly in the Financial industry. Does anyone know what the average salary is for this position? I have a sinking feeling that I accepted the role too quickly without comparing salaries. The position only pays $50k/year. That seems low to me.

Need advice. Very Shy guy and girl, met a while back for a side hustle both like each other a LOT, relationship has progressed in other areas but not in the physical realm, primarily because neither officially asked the other out. Guy is a very rough around edges, asked for a date by saying ‘anytime you need breakfast or lunch, let me know’. I am an independent gal and didn’t like the way it came across. I really want to take this forward but am out of ideas on how to make a date happen.

Got selected as an Intern+FTE at SocGen for 15 LPA from college campus placements. Is this less or enough, and are there any other things I should keep in mind when joining the company (the good and the bad).

Don’t you find it funny how mids and seniors applaud no raises for juniors because said juniors are useless and yet refuse to come into the office to train said juniors? Big Law is a total farce. I’ll keep sitting here by myself and maybe one day won’t be so useless, maybe by magic.

Been with company for 2.5 years in a SFA role, and they just let me hire an associate financial analyst reporting into me. My manager never mentioned anything in regards to a promotion, but when I asked, I was told that there will be an evaluation period before any promotion is given. Has anyone else had this before, where you are managing someone but they don’t give you a promotion? Sounds bizarre to me that they allow me to hire someone but then are hesitant to promote.

I’m in an interesting dilemma. Very interested in leaving my company, but I am also going through IVF. I know most new jobs require a year wait before you can go on maternity leave. Does anyone know a great company to work for that does not require this? Obviously, I’m getting a bit ahead of myself, but if this works, I don’t want to accept a job and not be paid for maternity leave because I am doing this solo. Appreciate all the help!

I joined 6 months ago as a L5 manager. I like my team but don't enjoy the work. I also feel I was down levelled at the time of joining. Should I wait 6 months and move internally? How easy is internal mobility especially if I were to target a L6 role? Would applying outside be wise ?

Living in Van. Previously lived in Toronto. Obviously rent prices are high as is cost of living. Generally go out and spend more often living in a city. Boyfriend and I on good salary but not saving much due to the above. Before we move home to our own country, we’d love to spend a year close to Vancouver where rent is cheaper, temptation is less, to save. A commute to Vancouver 1-2 times a month needs to be possible (his job). That can be a flight if it’s not crazy. Thoughts? Recommendations?
