Hi ladies! Wondering if anyone here visited the vatican and can share their experience. I heard you have to wait for hours before you can get in, are there any tickets you can buy in advance to skip the line?

I HIGHLY recommend Walks of Italy for all tours! We’ve used them on two trips, 8 different tours in Rome, Vatican, Florence, & Pompeii.
1. Customer service is easy to contact via phone. When you call the US number it will route you to an agent in the US or UK.
2. Each tour shows you upfront on the website where the meeting point is so you can plan ahead! They also email you DETAILED instructions of where and how to meet up with your guide after booking. The email has pictures and names of businesses/landmarks so you’re not just looking around crazy trying to find a tiny street sign.
3. Flexible cancellation. Many of the tours can be cancelled online no fees 4 days in advance. It’s non refundable after that but if you call you can usually reschedule to a different tour.
4. We’ve done 8 tours with the company and the guides that they contact are so fun and charismatic. They absolutely do everything they can to ensure you receive as much value as possible. Our Vatican guide the first time was a retired historian, he told us extra information related to WW1&2. Our guide the following year worked in art, she told us more about symbols in the frescos and the different Pope’s tombs!

Both guides hit all the highlights but it was awesome to learn something new!

I second Walks of Italy! They were great! Used them in Rome, Florence and Venice. No waiting in lines and fantastic every time. As Underwriter III said, the guides are so incredibly knowledgable. Our guide in Venice was a quirky, fun and charismatic Italian history university lecturer :-)

I went about 10 years ago and joined a group tour for that purpose. Literally named Skip-the-line

funny

I just went and booked through get your guide! It includes the museum, Sistine chapel, and Vatican. My guide said not to book for Wednesday and thursdays. And there is no seperate thing for the holy doors , once you’re inside the Vatican you’ll see a Line to go through the doors- just follow that. And

It won’t let me share a screenshot for some reason but the tour provider is “made in Rome tours”

It was like 10 years ago that I went but I recall I bought a ticket online and got right in. The waits inside were from tourists taking pictures of every. Single. Thing. But I remember seeing lines wrapped around the whole Vatican but I didn’t have to wait in them.

It’s a very stressful situation, I’ve traveled a lot and I’d rank it as one of the most overcrowded and overstimulating experienced but was a very special experience. It’s overwhelming but worth it. Go in knowing that and you’ll be fine. Also be aware they have the rules about clothing. It’s something like no shoulders showing so plan accordingly (and they have plenty of vendors outside selling shawls).

If you’re looking for fashion advice I just recommend not dressing like the pope and you should be okay. He doesn’t like people copying his outfit.

funny

We went as an excursion within a week long bus tour around Europe and were literally able to drive past a huge, huge line of people right to the front and were the first ones in when it opened. I’d def recommend finding a tour company to go with.

Echoing the above — went with a tour guide to skip the line. 100% the right move

Buy your tickets in advance on Get your guide and go early, it’s too hot there, packed with people and lines very long to go through the scanners

I went in December while on my honeymoon. Not sure what website my hubs used but he booked us a specific time to go in. There were people or placards above the line for that time slot that we showed our QR codes to and hopped in line at the correct spot to go in at our time. I think we were in line maybe 30 min? (It moved slow.) Really cool seeing the inside of it.

We’re starting to interview for my copywriter partner this week, but I don’t have any creative leadership above me (I’m also the only creative with agency experience at the company) so I’m nervous about being the only one looking at prospective partners.

Any tips for good questions to ask to feel out who is the best fit? I’ve worked with great and not so great writers in the past and it wasn’t always clear which would end up being the not so great based on their books.
