Too many companies are relying more on referrals to weed out applicants and job coaches are saying to get someone at company to refer you. I am a bit tired of old school networking so I prefer to call it socializing. Get out, make new connections online or locally inperson. Have a short speech saying what you want your next job to be and ask if they know anyone. Offer to refer good contacts to your former employers and hope they return favor. Assume online job hunting is a silly game so only put effort in a few roles or companies that you feel you would be good at. Companies seem way too picky about who they want to hire and they want to pay less for a top hire. Don't bother being low balled, it's a lose/lose proposition. The job market is not dead, it is slowly growing. Smart companies will grow faster with strong hires that feel valued. Those are the companies most of us want to work for. The rest can hire/fire/experience turnover.
You nailed it!
I don’t believe anyone has any special tips. The only tip I would give is focus on applying directly with the company. Have a detailed resume that focuses on your metrics . It’s not easy it’s still taking 6-12 months. Be willing to do wayyy more in the interview, for wayyyy less compensation. This is in comparison to previous years. There is very limited remote roles, be flexible to go onsite if you can.
