Hot take: I’m tired of watching strong women get labeled as difficult for holding their ground. I’ve seen it over and over... say no once, push back in a brainstorm, or challenge a flawed brief, and suddenly you’re not collaborative. Meanwhile, guys get called visionary for doing the exact same thing. It’s like confidence becomes a liability the second it comes from a woman. When did advocating for yourself become a red flag? How do you handle it?

My two cents:

1. Often it’s not what you say it’s how you say it. Learning how to say direct stuff with a bit of lightness, charm or even comedy is a necessary skill if you’re assertive.

2. Develop strong relationships with your day to days so they understand your style, can defend you to others if needed, and can keep you honest if you are coming across as difficult.

3. Get to know leadership and make sure you’re well liked by the people who make staffing decisions. It’s much better to be known as tough if you’ve got a good reputation as an excellent worker. You do not want to be known as one who does not play well with others.

4. Don’t ever be mean or make people feel small or stupid. Even by accident.

Dunno tbh I don’t think it’s so black and white gendered. Learning how to work with people and play to your strengths and communicate effectively will benefit either gender. No point blaming the other.

I have always tried to stay focused on the work. I find the chatter to be distracting noise like the kid who pulls your hair in class. Anything that tries to emotionally throw you off your game should be ignored. It gets worse the more successful you become too. I’ve heard it called the success tax. Also, make sure you have a good trusted female friend you can talk it all out with outside of work, it helps make you feel like you’re not going crazy!

Went for a pre-employment drug test yesterday. They never asked me if I was on any medications. I had to ask them and was told "oh yeah, just put any you may think make a difference in this text box." I put Xanax, Flexeril, and gabapentin. All of which are prescribed and used as directed. Now I'm terrified that I should have put ALL my meds, to including my psych meds. I've been sober over 12 years and never touched drugs (just booze) but I'm having a full blown panic attack.

Are there any recruiters who are currently actively looking to fill roles within start-up like companies? I have a background in accounting/compliance and was wondering if there were any start up companies within open roles in that space. Additionally, I’m also looking to connect with recruiters who are looking to fulfill account/compliance roles in general. Okay please reach out if you can help me get visibility with your clients. Thank you!

I've got an offer from Oracle Financial Services Software (OFSS). They are offering 20 LPA fixed.
Currently CTC = 14 LPA (Fixed + Variable)

Should I make the move or wait for a year to bag a better offer (maybe 25+)?
The HR said I'm getting 20 cause of less YOE

Also, what's the WLB and work in OFSS?

Definitely took the wrong job. I was offered a seriously competitive salary and great benefits to work at a well funded startup, which is great! Turns out the salary and benefits were meant as lowkey bribes to insure I worked at the company without actually doing any work. Every single suggestion I've made has been shut down and I've been ghosted for several meetings with the CEO. What should I do? Just leave?

Anybody else noticed recruiters are only proactively reaching out about hybrid/on-site roles nowadays?

It's almost as if people don't want to be in offices anymore so that's why it's difficult for them to fill those roles.
Sidenote: recruiters, you can see on my LI profile that I'm remote. In the "What jobs are you interested in" field you can see I'm only interested in remote roles.
So, why are you reaching out to me about jobs in a city 3 hours away that's 100% onsite and w/out even a ReLo?
