My advice is to do a combination of everything. Apply to job listings on job boards, but also apply to companies directly on their websites, or even cold apply through email. Taking your resume with you into jobs doesn't work as well as it used to, but don't dismiss it completely. If you get the right manager or owner who appreciates that kind of effort, it can work out well for you.
This is comforting. I think every avenue should be explored also. I think spacing out effort and staying persistent is a good decision as well
I browse LinkedIn, Indeed and Glassdoor and apply for everything that looks relevant. I've reached out to my network for referrals too, but it hasn't really panned out yet. I need to put more effort into networking. It's so much easier to get an offer when you've got some kind of connection.
Networking is very important. Its hard to get the right network around you
I’ve been unemployed since February. Been applying for everything that is a buyer, purchasing or production planning. Had four really great interviews (I thought), but lost the job to someone else.
Been using Indeed, Zip Recruiter, Glass Door, state website, and everything I can find.
I’m finding that my resume is “intimidating”. I was told that by the Work Source person. I’m having to “dumb down” my resume. I just don’t understand. Honestly, I feel my age is hurting me. It’s very frustrating to say the least.
This sounds frustrating. I am sorry you are going through this
Most companies want you to apple online on the company website.
Also look at LinkedIn, Indeed and any other Job boards. Don't limit yourself to just one job board.
Thanks for your input!
This online stuff is for the birds, qualifications, education are impressive and important. So is personality appearance communication skills . first impressions can go along way .You canhigher someone and never have a meeting yet , and turn out to be a big mistake, because of work ethics
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this!
