That will never happen. They will absolutely inform your partners. There is nothing confidential between HR and management.
I would just tell your partners and then right away send an email to HR. I get the wanting to document it thing.
I just emailed my HR and they sent over the applicable forms. I’m at a satellite office at a mid size firm so they really wouldn’t talk to the partners like that. I then told the partners in person after the email.
Thank you!

Don’t want your pregnancy shared outside of HR? That ship has sailed if you’re starting to show. I’m confused
Good to know. I’ll hold off so I can tell the people I want to at the same time I tell HR so hopefully no issues.
Why wouldn't you want your partners to know? They would need to know so they can make sure they aren't staffing you on projects during your maternity leave.
I would just rather tell them myself when I wanted to share the news. I don’t think they need a 4 month heads up for staffing, but would obviously tell them before that would become an issue.
I shared the news with the partners I work with closely before I shared with HR. They kept it under wraps before I reached out to HR. You could even see if one of the partners that you share with has that information or knows where to find it. We have a page where we can view all of our resources/benefits, etc.
