I want to exit to MBB. Started summer 2019 out of undergrad and D’s not a good fit for me. When is the best time to apply to MBB given the current economic situation and MBB’s hiring cycles (understand it may be different by firm).
Guys - what is your opinion of Cornell MBA? Is it considered top-tier, especially for jobs at MBB or bulge-bracket investment banks?
When jobs advertise that colleagues are ex-BB, B4, MBB etc - does this come across as a red flag for bad culture?
MBB Interviewers: I know the bar & I’m not there. Would it be terrible to tell those who’ve offered to refer me (lateral hire) that I’d want to wait until 2021 to interview? Friends say I’m crazy & that they don’t see any lateral hiring in Jan-March, but my understanding was most MBBs hire year round (pre-MBA). The thought of waiting another year to re-apply is scary. Please help!
Any insight into the Covid hiring freezes at MBB? Wondering if new applications for experienced hires are being reviewed or if things are still on hold for now.
Anyone go from MBB/T2 to MBA school and do something OTHER than return to consulting / go for high finance? Curious what your return on making that decision is and if it’s ever worth going if you’re already in consulting. Seems like most non-Consulting or IB jobs you could just skip the MBA.
How is hiring in Europe (London, Berlin, etc.) looking right now? Considering ditching the visa stress and moving back (EU citizen) - would companies there value 1-2 YOE at MBB with just an undergrad degree?
Any Tier 1 or 2 consulting company still hiring experienced general consultants? Passed the first round of an MBB interview but was put on hold due to hiring freeze...
I got into an HSW, but I’m concerned my low GMAT (700) might keep me out of jobs in VC or MBB. Should I/ do I need to retake?
What’s the usual career progression for ppl in consulting (outside of MBB). Like what kind of jobs do people exit to, and what salary ranges are normal? Is 200k by 35ish abnormal, etc.? (I honestly have no clue, just trying to get a better gauge. And I know that the range varies widely)
Would you be worried if switching jobs to MBB now that corona is putting everyone on hold / remote? May be hard to get traction
Thoughts on moving from one MBB to another immediately after? For context the jobs are still on the entry level spectrum. Appreciate your view!
I’m taking the GMAT in September and would like to include my score on my applications to other firms. Based on what I’m getting in practice, it would significantly improve my resume. However, I heard many firms, particularly MBB, have hiring windows in August, so applying later would hurt my chances. Is this true, and if so, when should I apply? Is it possible to apply earlier and then fill in the recruiter on my GMAT score while I’m in the process?
Which offices in the United States are considered “big” in terms of having higher demand for head counts and new hires? I’m not looking to take advantage of applying to an “easier” office (there is none) but rather understand the supply and demand landscape. There are locations in high demand but not necessarily hiring that much (such as Seattle, SF...) but what about other larger offices that aren’t as popular? Would appreciate insights from MBB thanks
Going to hiring committee for an L7 Strat Ops role. Coming from MBB. What should my TC expectations be? Is $500k+ reasonable?
How has COVID affected MBB? What cost cutting measures? Layoffs? Bonus? Freeze hiring? Internships? Etc?
Are MBB or Big4 hiring these days? Been out of consulting for couple years and thinking to boomerang back to consulting
Laid off and looking at next steps. Any desi fish who can give me a referral to MBB? Heard they’re hiring the most people at the moment.
How is it that MBB don’t need H1B amendment for traveling projects but B4 do? Aren’t we doing similar jobs as far as visas are concerned? Also, why is B4 visa rejection rate so much higher than MBB?
Where are good places to find jobs at start ups / early stage companies? Have 5 years of engineering experience + 1.5 YOE at MBB and would like to go back to a role where I feel less like a cog / more satisfaction building something
I don't have much experience but I see people care about serving as board member for non-profit. Is that only for MBA applicants or is is good for consulting jobs too? I served on the board for a non-profit but never put that in my resume, I am currently recruiting for MBB and wonder if I should include that on my resume?

Has anyone managed to get their firm to take over their student loan? They offer home-buying loans at low rates so employee loans do happen. Imagine MBB cost of capital is <8% student loan interest.
How do go from a lower tier / non-MBB consulting firm to MBB? Does it matter what level you are, what does that transition look like?
How is SAT/ACT factored into the MBB campus recruiting process? Does this test score make or break one’s candidacy? Wondering if a low SAT but solid GPA w/ good brand names and leadership experience will be good enough to get an interview
Seeking general career advice - I am an MBA grad one year in at a B4, doing mostly implementation work. I don’t particularly enjoy it and am realizing more by the day that my interest lies in strategy. I’m contemplating between switching to a more strategic practice internally (although I hear it’s not easy), trying to interview for an MBB firm, or looking at internal consulting roles. I have a lot of questions that I ponder about (which I’ll post in the comments) but I’d appreciate any advice!
MBB 🐠, is it hard to distinguish yourself as a “top-performer” or is it more just doing your job and not fking up? As a non-MBB individual, being a “top-performer” literally means non-stop working.
Have interviews with MBB coming up in a few weeks. Been doing a lot of case prep on my own but now looking to do some live case practice with people. Any takers?
MBB folks on H1-B who recently switched to FAANG - did you run into any issues with visa transfer? My transfer has been filed and I’m a bit nervous about USCIS’ perception of consultants and the current sentiment around H1-B visas.
Hi y'all, hoping to recruit for MBB full time this fall. How strong are your practices in pharma / biotech / medtech / life sciences / etc and what are key differentiating factors between the 3 firms in this line of work? Also what are the chances that you can specialize into this work relatively quickly post-MBA? Just hoping to learn more about the firms and begin building a cohesive story for recruiting. Thanks in advance!!
Do you find MBB strategy work to be fulfilling? Do you see the impact that you make on a wider range beyond just helping the client company?

Does anyone have advice about helping your kids through video conferencing anxiety? My 6 year old normally loves taking, happily volunteers to speak at school assemblies is completely freaked out by classroom zoom discussions. Says that “talking on a computer is weird” and he’s anxious to the point of tears.
If I apply to MBB and don’t land a first round, do I still need to wait 6 months to 1 year to reapply? Or can I take a diff approach to my resume & apply (different office) more immediately...

Today I heard keeping your 401k in a Vanguard target retirement date index fund is NOT a good idea. Where should we be putting our 401ks?
