Investment banking analyst here trying to lateral into consulting / MBB given the hiring pickup... is this unrealistic for someone "experienced" with my background? Am I basically ruled out at the resume screen?
Anyone make a move while in business school? Did it hurt your hiring prospects/prevent you from getting an offer? I’m trying to move to an MBB while in my executive program and trying to figure out how flexible they are/if I should wait to finish the MBA first.
if i made it to the final round at MBB in UG and have 1 yoe and want to pursue it again, who is best person to reach out to? i reached out to recruiters and haven't heard back. does it make sense to reach out to my past interviewers? i dont want to apply and miss the hiring push and have a cooldown period if i can just wait several months and try for early 2022 start. any guidance appreciated tia!
Any one here as GSM at apple (from MBB). Can you share the salary, hours, pros and cons. Also what do they look for in a candidate while hiring for GSM.
Accenture strategy CN and MBB have almost similar pay from campus hiring. Infact Accenture is just slightly more Can someone let me know what is the difference after 2-3 years in CTC? How much people in Accenture strategy will earn after 3 years ?
Is Bain & Company still hiring? Definitely my favorite mbb firm that I interviewed with post college but struck out. Not sure if I missed the hiring surge
Anyone knows if Big 4, Accenture or MBB is hiring in life sciences, healthcare strategy?
Anyone at MBB can confirm if they reject based on their intake classes being full, but don't tell you straight up? Asking as I've heard this happen before and just happened to me - told I did the case and fit perfectly but got a super vague suggestion to offer solutions (odd, because I did). Also am at the very end of this year's hiring season. Wonder if it's a rumour - anyone in recruiting can confirm? McKinsey & Company Boston Consulting Group Bain & Company
Anyone know if mbb london is hiring?
Is the MBB hiring spree still happening or has this come to an end? I know it’s likely winding down but curious if still worth it to try for an interview. Made it to final round as a lateral previously (~1.5 yrs ago) but was happy in my role since so haven’t really been looking.
MBB folks. Any way for a PhD to get into your firm? Have a friend w his PhD and is looking for a career change bc (surprise) academia is short on jobs. I told him his best bet was to get an MBA but that I would confirm with my 🐠 friends.
Do MBB firms consider academic scores even during lateral hiring? I am from target schools but did not make the shortlist on campus placements due to low cgpa. Can I apply laterally now?
Anyone know if Google US is open to hiring for PM roles from outside the US? I have a CS Degree + MBA and 9 years of WorkEx including 2 years at MBB.
Is it ever a good idea to let your leadership know that you are interviewing? Normally this would be a stupid move outside of MBB but these are not normal times,,, my boutique group had a handful of managers who all left and now it’s down to two. My leadership is declining invitations for proposals due to resourcing. Lateral hiring is more difficult than ever.
With all the recent hiring spree at MBB, did they drop their recruiting standards to be able to hire these many folks?
Are MBB hiring? Been seeing a lot of posts about an influx in hiring for McKinsey but wasn’t sure for Bain or BCG.... any insight would be appreciated!
Is working at MBB really that good, half of the conversations on Fishbowl are about the glorious jobs at MBB. My personal feelings -- Most of the big names and big name schools produce managers (who have learnt to MANAGE) and not leader who can inspire.
Will MBB be hiring more MBAs in 1 year or 2 years? Especially in light of current hiring spree (which I assume is mostly people with 2-3 years of experience?)
Is MBB still super hard/equivalently as hard to get an offer, even with all the hiring? Or a bit easier now
Is it worth leaving the D for MBB -asking since all are hiring right now? A lot of people that made the switch say it’s miserable
TSMG has been hiring a lot over the last couple of years from MBBs as well as tier 2 / big 4. Is there a pay disparity between people who join from MBB vs. others ?
Are MBB looking for hiring? Looking for a referral in MBB. 5+ Consulting experience. Any leads ?
Anyone starting an MBA to go to MBB... DM me for a referral instead. Huge hiring blitz rn.
Saw this job positing for head of AI ops at a pharma company, classic example of delusional hiring, I have nothing against MBB but you have to be in operational details of actually doing AI work at scale and sustaining them ...I think a few of the big 4 and Accenture or better even start ups are a better choice.....thoughts !!!!
Anyone have info on MBB/Strategy& supply chain consulting? Group size, actively hiring, common backgrounds (MBA/certifications required/helpful?), project types, & interview prep tips? Looking to enter as an experienced hire. Currently a procurement financial analyst and just passed my CSCP certification. Ex-big4. Thanks!
Trying to get an interview at MBB. Anyone have tips? Is there actually a hiring crunch right now?
Hiring for a VC fund across Gurgaon, Delhi, and Bangalore. SPECIFICALLY looking for candidates with the below experience: - ~3 years of post qualification experience in strategy consulting with a leading management consulting firm (MBB++) - Preference for engineers + MBA from tier 1 institutes - Candidates must have done projects for clients across sectors like tech, consumer etc. - Demonstrated interest in start ups via independent projects, investments, (more in comments)....
Bain started hiring data science talent in Europe for AAG. Looking for insights. What do you think of working for MBB as a data scientist?(pros/cons) Is the work similar to respective McK/BCG groups? What is the actual work and why sudden expansion? Senior associates and senior managers are hired, why no managers? Is it 70+ hours/work week? Challenges to permanent relocation from say Bain France to Bain Switzerland provided language is not a barrier? Thanks in advance!
Got into an M7 with 50% scholarship and plan to pursue consulting (targeting MBB). Given the hiring frenzy, should I try applying with referrals now and skip the MBA? Worried that if I strike out now, firms would be less inclined to give me an interview during school, when I’d be better prepared. Also, with just under 4 YOE in business analysis, would I come in at the post MBA level?
I was just curious, and wanted to get perspectives from the community. Sometimes I get pinged by my 2nd degree contacts for a referral at a role in my current company. But they are reluctant to share their resume with me. Usually, I’ve been asked to make a connection with the hiring manager directly. Why the hesitation to share Resumes? Am I missing / overlooking something?? If it helps, in this case it’s an ex-MBB individual looking for a role in my company. Thanks!!
Are BB also hiring like crazy right now, or is it just M? And if I started at my current place like 3 months ago and let's say I get an offer from a MBB, would pivoting be frowned upon or be considered "burning bridges"?
Coming in to MBB as a lateral hire (experienced post MBA consultant). 8 YOE in tier 2/3 consulting jobs. Always a top performer, but I’m assuming that will change at MBB......what are tips to get comfortable being an average performer and being okay with it? I’m not worried about the “ego” side of things, but I am worried bc my personality is to work hard until I’m a top performer and I am scared I might burn out doing that...
Want to hear about people's experiences on how they managed to get an interview call with MBB or at the Big 4's through experienced hiring. Did you go through career websites or spoke directly to the recruiter?
Wanna join MBB due to the caliber of colleagues. But don’t want the crazy hours. What are my alternatives in terms of consulting firms?
How long does MBB in Southeast Asia typically take to get back to a candidate after the final interview (experienced candidate) ? Been a week and a half now, getting a bit nervous haha
MBB people in London (or other non-US financial hubs) - if you are aligned to the financial services industry, are you still on the road most of the time or are projects more local?
Fellow European, tough question for you. With unclear future career plan, from MBB would you join INSEAD as a non sponsored consultant ?
best MBB in europe?
How much of being successful at MBB comes from pure intelligence vs effort/strong work ethic? I know a combination of the two is important but just wondering if anyone has noticed this play out at their firm. It often seems that hard work can take you a lot further than natural talent and I’m wondering if that holds true at MBB.
Former MBB here. Looking to get back into MBB but also considering Alix as I can likely start at Director (was former EM/PL level at MBB). Ops background. Crazy to consider AP?? I don’t mind getting my hands dirty in excel and pptx but def a different working model.
I would honestly pay fishbowl money if they would let me filter out all these dumb MBB(other firm) posts going on today
Jesus I wouldn’t qualify for level 1 in NYC. None of the MBB would qualify. This law makes no sense
To those in non-MBB: Would you rather have an offer in hand right now for MBB or FAANG pm? Assume it’s a lateral transition.
If you can code, why haven’t you left consulting for SWE? Serious replies please contemplating mbb vs faang swe offer
MBB 🐠 - I don't hear you complain as much as big 4. Is your work life balance really that great? What are typical hours and projects like?
People who’ve left MBB/consulting for FAANG: Is it everything you thought it would be? Better or worse how?
Anyone know how MBB is doing with start dates and layoffs? I feel like big 4 are doing similar things would love to hear what the Crown Jewels are up to lol
How much does school choice matter later in ones career? Assuming you can enter the same role (MBB, etc.) at each, will a better ranked/recognized school have much impact on further career outcomes? As we make decisions, I'm trying to figure out how much it will impact career trajectory after the first role. I know the network is important, but how much does that matter? As well as the other considerations. Specifically asking about the various levels of t-15.
Have other B4 done away with ratings on project reviews? Such a mess at our first mid-year review committees... it's a step in the right direction (looking at you, A and MBB) but still a way to go
I’m in tech consulting but truly a generalist since I’ve been on a wide array of projects and IMO I have no discernible skills. I want to find a different job soon. I’m sick of consulting and the asshole clients - but I feel like I have no options! I hear I can go industry, but I’m not sure what that would look like for me. Anyone made a career move out of consulting? Tips? What did/does it look like for you?
Does anyone have any study tips or can suggest a helpful study tool for the HRCI SPHR exam? I used BenchPrepHR to help me prep and took a few practice test. I took my exam last week and unfortunately did not pass. Any tips would be helpful to help me prepare to retake in a few months.
For those of you who spent the time and money to get the PHR or SHRM certifications, do you feel that it actually strengthened your professional capabilities as on HR professional, or did you just do it to fit into the “HR Professional” crowd?
I am looking to take some time off, but have no idea what to do in these covid times. Someone suggested a cabin get away. But I don't know anywhere interesting near Chicago. I am open to the idea but a bit aprehensive since I basically travel on my own. Are there any other suggestions?
What’s the typical salary of a workday consultant at Accenture in the Miami or Atlanta area? 1-2 YOE.
The man was then charged with ESCAPE FORM A PENAL INSTITUTION. How about them COVID camps, uh? They’re not like prison, unless you try and escape from one.
Average Account supervisor salary at ogilvy? Thinking about jumping ship but the average AS salary there, according to Glassdoor, is ~67K. I’m making $72K right now as an SAE at my current agency
For those that left PA, did you let your team know you’re interviewing? If not, what did you tell them?
Poll: my friend not on this app has an offer to join BCG/McK. She currently has 1.5 years pre MBA experience at a boutique strategy (LEK) with strong bschool placements and exit opps but not fond...
Hola! I have upcoming interviews with EY and KPMG. Do you have any insight about the culture or things that you like and are unique to each firm? TIA!
I have a family member that started a company. Said company reached out to my sister asking for an interview presumably not knowing she was related to the founder. She is at a cross roads - it’s a good opportunity and she would never see said family member but she is worried people might think nepotism as they have the same last name. Also she is unemployed so she needs a job. Would you take the interview?
It’s pocket change, but it’s something at the very least! https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/business/coronavirus-stimulus-check-calculator/
This is more a mental health question. Is it okay to leave a job after only 4 months? I’m finding it extremely stressful and a toxic work environment, but worried how it will look/ if its unprofessional since I’ve only been there a short time. I have longevity at other companies (5 years at my last company), but mostly worried about what my current managers will think of me if I give notice.
I’m not happy where I’m at, my abilities aren’t being maximized as I’m spread thin, and I know I’m being undervalued. Recently graduated and in property management w/ 3-4 years sales experience. Currently on the hunt for Sales/Account Management roles leaning more towards consumer goods, then tech. Any advice?
