How do you handle the slow pace of change in government roles? I’ve been in my position for almost two years, and while I love the mission, it sometimes feels like even the smallest improvements take forever—weeks of approvals, layers of review, and endless meetings. It’s frustrating to see good ideas stall out or die in committees. Is this just part of the job, or have you found ways to work around it? I'd love to hear how others cope with the pace.

It’s definitely one of the tougher parts of government work, but I’ve learned to focus on small wins and relationships. Change takes time, but building trust and working within the system can still lead to real impact. Patience and persistence really do pay off here.

I don't worry about the pace too much. I'm always pretty busy, and if some things take a long time to be approved and made ready for deployment, that's just the way it is. There can be a lot riding on what's happening, and we can't risk a chaotic result. We're all about to see what happens when that's the case, as the federal government staggers into its move fast and break things phase of existence.

This is the red tape of bureaucracy! Go along to get along honestly. I would love to see some things move faster, but that is some very wishful thinking. Do what is on my list for the day and then let everything else go.

I'm in one for last 10 years

For those who are established, what steps did you take to ensure consistent growth? One thing that has always deterred me is how often businesses fail. I'm looking for an exit opportunity and have been considering building my own thing for a while. Thanks!!

Hi Fishes, I grabbed an offer at Accenture with 12 LPA fixed for Level 9. I'm not getting a retention offer from my current company at 13.5 lpa. How do I go about a counter offer with Accenture HR? Also tell me how to approach this situation smoothly.

If HR doesn't fulfill the counter offer, is it ok to accept 12 lpa fixed for Level 9 and when will I get a hike here and how much would it be approximately?

Hi all 🙂👋🏻 Apologies for such a late post. I have an offer of 18 CTC(1L joining bonus) from Larsen & Toubro Infotech & 12.5 fixed from IBM .
My joining in both are in around May last week. Tomorrow my IBM pre onboarding HR will connect with me. Should I ask for a counter offer tomorrow itself?
Or should I ask 2 weeks before joining?
Many told me that companies revise CTC when the joining date is near, else they show less interest. So should I go for it now itself?
Appreciate ur inputs🙂

I am an senior associate at a small (8-10 attorneys) immigration firm in NYC. My base is 110k and I get 30% for the cases and clients I bring in. My revenue was 370k last year and I did 250k till April this year.

My issue is, I have so much firm's work that I have hard time to work on my cases/clients. It feels like my cases are supposed to be done after hours (like after 6 pm). My work hours are crazy. I feel this is unfair and since my firm's taking 70% of my sales. Should I ask for a raise?

Hi Fishies,
