How honest are you with the candidates you talk to? Sometimes, I catch myself lying about how great certain aspects of the company are because, well, I obviously don't want to say the opposite, and I don't want to lose the candidate. I guess I could be a little more truthful, but I'm struggling to find the right words to put their expectations in a neutral territory. How do you do it?

It’s tempting to paint everything in the best light because I want our candidates to be excited and yes, sometimes I’ve glazed over the less-flashy parts of the job or company. But over time, I realized that being more upfront not only sets clearer expectations, it also builds trust from the start. If there’s something about the team or work culture that’s a challenge, I try to frame it as an opportunity for the right person.

Agreed, truth from the beginning builds trust. Candidates know there’s always going to be pain points and if you’re not honest w them from the beginning can leave them less prepared and walking in blind rather than having solid expectations from the start.

Somewhat depends on what we are talking about. For a hypothetical example, say the candidate is very interested in growth at the company, but I know that’s not a great thing. It’s in my and their best interest to give them realistic information on it. Save everyone a lot of headaches in the future.

I think it's very important to be honest to your candidates. I would never want to mislead someone especially because they will find out the truth eventually. It also starts to give you and your company a negative reputation

I would never flat-out lie to someone. Generally speaking the conversations are general enough that there wouldn't be a reason to just make things up. If asked about something specific I'll either say I don't know or I'll represent the company's position. Lying to land a candidates just seems like a poor strategy (and seriously, in this job market it wouldn't seem to be necessary).

I'm as truthful as I can be without saying something that could get me into trouble. We don't just want to hire someone, we want to hire someone who's going to stay. It is in our best interest to make sure that they are a perfect match for us, but also that we are a perfect match for them. That involves being honest with them about all aspects of the job and company.

^ agree, the candidate will just leave if they were misled and that's just a waste of time for everyone

Interviewed for Deloitte S&A Tech Strategy SC and got a verbal offer for Consultant instead. I negotiated the offer to 120K salary and 10K signing bonus. I’m a boomerang with 4 years ERP consulting but this past year I’ve been doing DEI Consulting. Spoke with former colleagues who rejoined Deloitte and got a much higher offer for SC. How do I go back to the recruiter to negotiate further? I suggested that I’d probably sign but need time to think. Now I’d like to go back and request 140k salary.

HI
Im looking for opportunity in react js. can anyone refer me @Mphasis
Have 4.5+yrs experiences.

TIA

I recently was let go (in lieu of accepting my two weeks) and I should have received my March expense check by the end of April per the employment agreement (submitted the report April 1, let go before mid April). I have emailed HR but haven't heard anything. I've got a feeling someone at the top is putting a hold on it.

How do I get my money from them? It's a few hundred dollars

Sorry if this isn't the right bowl for this question - I've checked a few.

Is this an aggressive position? Would you use final regulations effective for tax year beggining Dec 16, 2020 to support a deduction for calendar tax year 2020? Proposed regulations didn't include this exception. More details below.
