Well. I am about to turn 45 and I hope to be still taking them when I am 50.
By about age 3 they stop wanting to take a nap during the day. Although our 4 year old is made to take a nap after lunch at school, she doesn't nap when she is home.
We asked a different question, when do we have to start transitioning so that they last all day in Kindergarten. We started just at the 4th birthday, 18 month before entering Kindergarten by still offering naps but making them optional. Within 2 months no-one was napping anymore. But boy, did I miss those two hours of quality work time.
First kid stopped naps at 18 months second at 30. There's no magic number
Good luck with that. 4 is where the gratuitous nap ends. Unless you’re driving, then the bliss extends until 10 years old because no one can resist a road trip nap time
Ours is turning 5 at the end of Jan and still takes naps. It's all about how you train them.
Our 5 year old is in kinder and doesn't take naps during the week. On the weekends we let him nap with his 3 year old brother for 1-1.5 hours.
Both mine stopped napping around 4. They are now 11 and 5. So they get screen time for an hour after lunch so mom and dad can take a nap 😴
My son stopped when he was three. When he was 2 he would take 2 - 2 hour naps. At 3 it was 1 - 2 hour nap. Somewhere in the 3s he stopped all together.
You do it as long as you can!
We made it to four years old. I miss the nap days. Now my son makes it his mission to keep me from napping.
Son is 4. I still put him in his room for a nap. Some days he naps and some days he just plays in his room but either way he is in his room from 1:30-4. We're very scheduled in my house with kids. 2 year-old has no problems sleeping haha I say keep it going as long as you can.
Almost 4. Still 80% nap at home. Capped and 90 minutes though. Skip it if she sleeps in.
KPMG - There you go
Stoped napping at ~3 but we do "quiet time”. About an hour to 90mins of playing alone while everyone gets a break. He comes out super recharged and happy.
