$0. She owns her shop and sets her prices. If she squeezes me in or comes early sure. But I’m not tipping. I hate tipping culture more broadly. I’ll leave you great advice reviews though.
Same for my braider, she come to my house (charges a travel fee) but I pay her her price.
Idk. I do agree that they set their own prices....but it’s their craft.
Tipping culture has become insane with everyone “expecting a tip” for doing nothing…but if someone does a good job For you then I show them my appreciation by tipping them.
30% because I only have to go every 5months (keratin) and I appreciate her!
$30-50 usually whatever the deposit is/was. I only get sew ins - lmao I’m old school she calls me..i just hate lace fronts and baby hairs
Honestly, these prices are so crazy now…. If I’m paying you $350 for a first service cut and barely a silk press, plus I bought your product line, that’s about all you’re getting. I think I tipped her $10 or $20 and she seemed deflated. The standard service is still like $200 or $250 and I’ll only see her 3-4 times a year but still she built her tip into the cost.
Usually 10-15% for everything
20 to 25% depending. I typically get a deep condition and styled cornbraids but she does everything from cut to color to weaves. She rents a shop and her prices are the best in town especially considering how skilled she is. Yes, she sets her prices but it's likely to be competitive. At the end of the day I'm really paying the extra for the experience, we have a great time, talking and laughing and watching terrible movies. The same (without the movies) for my nail tech. Both are talented, licensed black women that create an amazing one on one experience for their customers.
I show them my appreciation by going back. If you don’t do a good job why would I keep going to you when it’s your craft?
Yeah but shouldn’t something be said if they do do a good job? And you appreciate it. Stylists DONT have to take you on as a regular client…
This isn’t a supermarket or a restaurant or somewhere that HAS to serve you.
I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that your opinion is the minority here. Most people tip their stylists.
Of course this is my opinion
