Deloitte experienced hires, who all received written offers and in process of visa/ onboarding, have you heard back anything about hiring freeze? Or recruiter asked you to delay joining date?
My visa got submitted couple of days back and waiting for decision. When I reached out to recruiter to give her an update and mentioned once there’s decision will discuss on the start date before putting my 2 weeks, she mentioned “Yes, we should talk before you put notice” - Am I overthinking? Call it top 10 or whatever you want. But M7 is always M7, like ivy is always ivy, like it or not
so IBM is going non M7 top 10 school....
If you cancel the test immediately after you take it, it’s as if it never happened. Alternatively you can pay some fee to retroactively cancel it. But even so, I got a 690, kept my score, took it again, got a 740, applied to HBS and got in... with the 690 clearly showing. So don’t stress too much. They look at your best score
Wtf is top 10. M7 is an actual group of schools
They can’t see if you cancel a score
A) Don’t worry about it. I took the test several times and got into a top 10 program.
B) Stop calling it m7. That’s a legacy term that actually doesn’t signify anything.
Hahaha. Firstly, y’all can keep using some archaic catch-all term like “M7” to signify that you went to a “magnificent 7” elite bschool. A) I already graduated. B) I went to CBS. I refuse to use such inane terminology as M7. And for whoever said ivy is an ivy - do you know how much the Ivy League even started? It was an f-in athletic conference/league.
Schools can sometimes ask for scores, especially M7. Does it matter? Not really if you took it twice. If you took it say, 4 times, it may raise questions. I can't speak for other schools but for HBS, they sometimes ask in interviews.
@IBM1 which school did you go to? Stern I'm guessing?
IBM1, can you share your background/ugrad? Did you go to IBM straight from CBS? Also was the general consensus at CBS or IBM that M7 is archaic?
How many times did you take it? And did you cancel?
It also shows that you work on things and get results if you have 2 or 3 scores and they all get better and better
Well, thanks for stating a fact we all know about ivies. But still, as i said, ivy is always ivy and m7 is always m7, like it or not. You can argue day and night about which schools are top 10, argue which ranking and which year's ranking you are based on. But i haven't seen anyone argue which universities are ivies or which b schools are m7. Not to look down any schools, but simply stating the fact.
CBS + IBM = success
M7 (although an unofficial term) does refer to 7 specific schools and the OP is probably using it as a proxy for top 10, which is fine.
OP similar to applying in undergrad where there are definitely non Ivy schools you would prefer to an Ivy, an official and trademarked term (think Stanford/Chicago/Cal Tech compared to Brown), there are non M7 schools you should consider over some M7s (Haas could be a better fit than CBS if you like tech and/or the west coast).
To the original Q: nothing wrong with a cancel IMO.
