You can put her in a carrier and keep her under the seat on the plane. If she’s well behaved you can even take her out when you’re in the air snd put her in your lap. But since she’s a puppy, make sure she gets enough bathroom breaks.
I think airlines have different rules on age requirements for your dog, so just in case have that documentation with you that she’s old enough to
I chose the seat in the back of the plane so that I could take her out after takeoff.
Check the connecting airport to see if they have a pet center for a potty break (I know for example SFO does). I’d bring lots of little training treats, a few puppy pads, maybe a flex chew type toy to keep them occupied, and a doggie water bottle/bowl to give them water. I flew with my pup in a carrier once and I realized she got really hot during the flight being under the seat. I felt so bad for her!
If you’re getting the dog from a breeder, see what else they’d recommend!
This is good advice.
Make sure you have a soft carrier, treats, plenty of puppy pads and some toys. Maybe ask the vet for some meds to keep the puppy calm. Make sure they go to the bathroom before the flight. Bring some doggy bags just in case they go #2 in the dog carrier.
i just flew with my dog, had a connection.
i had an unfortunate situation where the first flight was delayed. caused me to miss the connecting flight. airline booked me a non-pet friendly hotel.
entire situation was so stressful lol. sigh.
my advice, fly early in the morning and make sure you have flexibility to make the connection.
if you’re flying internationally, you should make sure to have the proper vaccine paperwork and what not (depends on the country).
Keep a west paw toppl with either some honey, peanut butter, crushed up kibble or crushed up treats in case of delays on the plane or waiting at your connection. The west paw toppl is so much easier to clean than a Kong. Crushing up the kibble or treats and putting it in the toppl will makes it last longer.
