I am Tax Consultant II and planning to take 3 months off to complete my CPA journey. I love working at Deloitte but my Current team is not supportive about completing the CPA exams and at this point I am afraid I will loose my credits if I don’t completely stop working for next 3 months. How is job market right now? Is there enough hiring within other Big 4s? I am confident I will have my CPA exams passed after 3 months so I am willing to take a step PwC" class="linkified" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" >back.PwC EY

There is quite a bit to unpack here. If you are in a traditional tax busy season then your teams reaction seems reasonable at the moment. If they have not been supportive of your certification over the last few months, then I would make sure you have gotten the right people involved. This could be your counselor, the partner on your accounts, partner in charge of the staffing group (if applicable at Deloitte) or a trusted Senior Manager shareholder. There is hiring in the other Big 4 and there is a big push to have people getting through the CPA early in their career. There’s plenty of time to get through your CPA before manager and I would consider there is a chance you may not pass within the three months period if you leave. If you enjoy working at Deloitte, I would make sure you have checked all the boxes before taking a break.
This is a harsh reality but it is your responsibility to schedule time to take the CPA and adhere to it. I acknowledge this is difficult to do. If there are dates you plan to test, send them out to your teams up to a month in advance. Talk to your teams and see how much you can dedicate for work to study. Over communicating a plan is key. Hopefully this is helpful to think through on your journey and best of luck with those tests!

When do your credits expire? The performance year ends in a couple weeks so I would wait until it ends and you’ll likely be promoted.

I passed 2 already FAR and AUD long time ago but every time I start prepping for 3rd REG there is a busy season.

Random, but valid/persistent thought.

After 2 years of a pandemic and working independently for many years, I am not feeling interviews AT ALL. There are points in the interview where I want to just say "Look! Either hire me or don't".

How can I get over this feeling? I'm over the whole "stand in the line of fire to prove how good I am" bs. Any recommendations for getting over this or possible industries to pivot into to avoid bs interview processes and ghosting?

For those in corporate development, can you talk about the financial modeling aspect of the job? How detailed do you get? Full three-statement or something much simpler? 50 tabs or less? It would be helpful if you could say what size company and whether it’s public or private. Thanks!

I've noticed that the engineers keep their mouths shut whenever they're asked for feedback, but when they're alone, they talk about how much they wish they could change management.

Why is that?

I've been a dental assistant for 11 years , and I think I'm done . I feel the pay is never enough and 9/10 we do the most work in the office . It's never commensurate to what we do and no matter how much experience you have your still 3-5$ more than someone fresh out of school . It's a skill I'm glad to know that I can always find work but the burnout for nothing isn't worth it. Can anyone relate

I know there have been lots of posts on Herman Miller Aeron, etc. but any recommendations for an office chair that will be comfortable for long work days but not be an eyesore in the middle of my apartment?
