I think they both feel about the same as far as stability. But you are right, you can make a lot more with housekeeping. Depending on where you are located and tips, there are more opportunities than there are in retail.
Definitely a few more opportunities!
I bartrnded in a hotel for 5 years and i can say that benefits seem to be alot better in hotels and there is room gor advancement in hotels that i never saw when i worked retail

I've only worked retail, but I'm curious what makes you think that. My understanding has always been that housekeeping pays really poorly. I'll do it in a heartbeat if I'm wrong though, I'd rather deal with messy rooms than awful customers.

From what I’ve seen, housekeeping can feel more stable in the sense that the work is always there, but it is also very physical and can get repetitive fast. Retail has more customer unpredictability, housekeeping has more workload predictability but harder wear on your body.

Housekeeping may be a bit more predictable and stable; however, it also has its busy seasons. The work is more physical, I didn’t think they paid well though. I’d do some thorough research on this before making the switch
