I applied for the perfect job 2 weeks ago, but haven't heard anything yet. They require candidates to have combined relevant experience of 5+ years, but I only have 3. My experience is strong, though. Since I haven't heard back, should I send the hiring manager an InMail on LinkedIn? I know I'm qualified and would be a good fit, other than the year count.

If you are going to message anyone, I usually recommend waiting until closer to the 3 to 4 week mark. At that point, a polite, concise note is fine. Keep it professional, not salesy, and do not try to argue why you meet the year requirement. Let your resume do that work.

I don’t want to be pessimistic, but 2 years off with experience is a lot. There will be a lot of people with 5+ that match exactly. Within a year is a safer bet when you do not match.

Perfect job and it's been two weeks? send them inmail or message
