Hi Techies,
I want to know that where should move/upskill from networking routing switching to other domains to get more salary.
I feels that networking industry doesn't have deep pocket like others.
Any suggestions of technology/domain?

I work at JD. Don’t come here. Go get a pro-rated covid bonus. Things are busy everywhere and you will work a ton, make sure you’re getting compensated for it.

Mind if I DM you? Possibly looking to transition to a Littler-like firm and am interested in learning more about your experience at your current firm? TIA!
Ya, feel free!
No idea but big law is really hurting for l and e associates right now
Yes. Many are looking for mids/seniors. Just know that in my experience, at top firms (I made a similar move to v50 and left because the group was toxic) the work is less high volume than Big 4 (i.e. no epli) so it is an adjustment. And the group is frequently the red headed step child in the firm because the rates are lower than other groups.
Not always true, I’m former big law and we did a ton of insurance defense. Downside (as you flagged) is that my hourly rate on those cases was 1/3 of other associates. Management claimed they didn’t care, but L&E associates were very skeptical that it wouldn’t haunt us come promotion time.
Be wary of a big law position if you’ll be required to deal work (unless you’re interested in that). I think L&E generally has a pretty decent work life balance at law firms, and deal work is horrific.
I thankfully got out before I had to start doing deal work. I don’t know why firms don’t have a set L&E associate(s) to help with deals. It’s unreasonable to ask them to both.
Just curious: What are the Big4?
It took me so long to connect the dots that FP = Fisher Phillips that I literally thought: “damn, Fisher Phillips shade for not including them!” Must be end of the month brain 🤣

My sense is that those firms use employment lawyers for both litigation as well as deal work, so emphasize both in your interviews.
And you could always step back a year, and it would probably be worth it for you in the long run.

I would get out of Jackson Lewis if that’s where you are. I’m against them frequently and it seems like bad juju. Partners do everything possible to drag out cases, which tells me they need to bill, and associates seem very untrained.

It's a big firm with lots of small offices. I think you might be in a jurisdiction with some bad apples. I know plenty of decent attorneys there.
