I asked for a pay range and was told they can't share it because of legal reasons. That doesn't sound right to me. 🚩 Since they won't give a benchmark, what's the best way to handle the salary negotiation moving forward? Or would I be better off just accepting what they offer?

There’s no guarantee that I will be offered a job at company B but my gut is telling me that company B would be a better fit for me. I’m a former forensic scientist that left the field several years ago. I recently received a subpoena from a case I worked and suggested to DA to have evidence re-worked by the lab or stipulation. If I am required to testify (as an expert witness), I would need to book a flight, hotel, etc. My question is this: can I ask for my requested hourly rate, travel, and hotel to be covered when speaking with DA or is that “not how this works” as the investigator put it?

Hello I’m curious on how to bring this to my supervisor attention. A few months back all the techs got a raise based on how long they have had been a tech. A coworker and I Both have been a tech for the same amount of years but she got 1.50 more than I did. How do I bring this up as the supervisor mentioned that we shouldn’t be talking about our raises.
