I believe that compensation can be a two-way street. The amount offered for services rendered and talent for amount offered. You cannot have one without the other.

General annual reviews of compensation are completed, but are formal reviews ever needed to make sure that it's in line with market rates?

It falls to the individual to make sure they are at the fair market rate. A formal review can help keep the company competitive, but it’s up to them to do it.

Thank you! I will do some research and then figure out what to do.

If you have reason to believe you're not fairly compensated you have to make a case for yourself. Generally speaking, companies are not going to look out for your interests, you have to do it yourself. Talk to your manager and make the case that you've improved in your job and you're a more valuable employee now than you have been.

Thank you - that's very helpful!

Asking for two of my friends. Age around 22. 1 has done B.Sc in Nursing. And the other has done B.Sc in Agriculture. Both have become hopeless into their respective fields after looking for job and not being able to fetch any better. They want to switch to IT. My question is can they do this if acquired sufficient skills! I mean irrespective of their background, will a company hire them as a intern or fresher? If it's possible, then kindly suggest. TIA. 🙏🏻

My boss assigns projects with unclear expectations and provides no guidance on how to achieve them.

I've asked for help, and, to avoid a long post, she expects me to figure it out. Perhaps you go through this too, but when I don't have a clear guide on completing big projects, it paralyzes me because I don't know where to start. On top of that, I have anxiety, so "it has to be perfect".

How do you approach projects when your boss plays the "guess what's in my head" game?
