I’m starting to work in the IB division in NYC soon. Was wondering what’s the dress code in the office. Would Business casual be fine?

My manager micro manages everything I do, and I’m losing my mind. Wanted to see how any of you have handled a manager like this, and get some advice on how to tell them to literally stop.

Who hates being micromanaged by your boss? I had to deal with a boss who had to be involved with every little thing and it drove me nuts, and made me feel like she didn’t trust me.

So I just came out at my small firm in a small southern town. Historically, I haven’t discussed my personal life at work— but I had to give notice anyway. I told the partners I’m moving to be with my boyfriend. It was a surprisingly lovely conversation given that I’m at a firm of rich old men, deep in the heart of Tr*mp country.

Tips on giving notice over the phone? I’m required to be in the office 5 days a week but the two partners I work for never come on Fridays or Monday mornings

If you spend the day writing stuff on linked in, how do you get shit done at work?

I work part time for a startup for equity and am attending an event on behalf of the startup. I’ve only been here a few months and asked multiple times to have a prep meeting with my boss. He instead sent me a 15 page document outlining 40 questions I should be able to answer the day before the event.
I’m so incredibly stressed as I don’t want to show up unprepared and make myself look bad. Idk how to make light of this situation at this point

This partner I like and work for often gave me the most lukewarm review, very bummed

Anyone else get frustrated when the partner brags about their billable hour amount for the month? Like congrats, you get to bill .2 for each piece of mail. You also get .2 for every letter your secretary types up as a "form letter" you never even look at. As an Associate, I don't get those easy/automatic hours.

I got feedback from my manager telling me that I should always have an opinion, which is very hard in group settings, esp. when people are talking about a topic unrelated to my module. Any thoughts ?

I started a new job as an “office manager” at the end of January. The duties seem to align more with those of an EA, and I’m ok with that. Except my boss is a control freak. He scolds me over every little thing, how I load the dishwasher, maybe I didn’t push my chair in. Last week he told me I needed to work on my appearance. I was shocked. I bought all new clothes from Ann Taylor that are perfectly acceptable for business casual. He hates me. Move on ASAP or try to stick it out ?

Senior revving up to manager promo. Only nervous about one thing at the manager level which is having to answer pointed “Why??” questions from higher up clients on live calls. Any one else work through something like this? I’d appreciate any tips or suggestions as I really suck at dealing with unexpected push back.
