Maybe not technically inappropriate but kinda weird.
Indian here and I looked it up on the site. It’s an anarkhali - a longer top with wide pants (could also be a skirt). It should come with a shawl (dupatta) that you would drape in some fashion. As for wearing it again, you might want to look into having it restyled/altered by a tailor to turn it into something different, like a knee length skirt and/or jacket or tank blouse. It’s what I often do.

Well this is gorgeous! I don’t think you should get rid of it. I’m Asian (though not South Asian) and I’d want to wear it again too. I think if you wore it elsewhere, it’s cultural appreciation. It doesn’t look like a traditional sari to me, but maybe someone from that culture could speak to that. I don’t think you should have to change it, but you could get it altered/shortened if that would make you feel more comfortable.
