I have been asking *so many questions* this week and for that I am sorry lol.

Now, regarding power query in Excel, does anybody know what specific situation would entail XML mapping?

I am asking because I need to open an existing document in SharePoint for web to view the change log. It does use power queries that involve XML but idk which XML query is the issue. I have other workbooks that use XML weblinks which do not give me this "XML mapping" error.

The reason I have so many questions this week is basically because I have been given a very annoying, stressful, tedious, time consuming, (and frankly imho frivolous and unnecessary) task at work. It is so stupid because the person who brought up all of this only created a ton of problems. She broke the entire workbook and now I have to recreate the entire thing from the bottom up.

Excel must have a more specific definition because SharePoint only gives me that XML mapping error with some files that have XML queries

You need XML mapping simply when input data is in the form of XML.
If you get such an error when opening your excel file then look into it: there is somewhere where this import fails.

Timesaver: If you’re working on a file saved on the cloud (teams, share point, etc.) and need the URL to communicate out, tap FILE -> INFO -> COPY PATH and the url will be on your clipboard.
