Use conditional formatting for the row based on the value of column A.
Select the whole table, go to conditional formatting -> new rule -> use a formula to determine which cells to format -> create your formula (remember to drop the $ for the rows so the rule will apply to the whole row instead of just column A).
Create all 3 formulas and voila
Converting your data into a table will give the alternating row colors. As far as grouping goes, I think conditional formatting can help you. Is this data in excel or google sheets?
Conditional formatting blows up the size of my excel files so quickly

If you apply for the whole file/worksheet, yes
If you apply for a "small" number of cells, it shouldn't impact much (small as 10k-1MM cells)
