I have two offers in hand. One is from Deloitte USI and another is from Stanc GBS. Stan C is offering slightly higher compensation. Considering my situation in family, I need a good WLB and and job stability for next couple of years. So, I am considering, StanC as the joining option.
1. Is it the right decision to join Stan C.
2.Is full amount or only the basic pay is paid during paternity leave and does this 20 weeks paternity leave affect variable payment and usual hike for a good performer?

Stan C has lots of restructing going on and WLB is not good due to layoff and restructing. Dont expect Hike its 0

here is my take away after working with both the firms :
1. work life balance is still one of the best of you compare any service based be it big4 or any other.
2. have little hopes on yearly salary increments for scb , you may get less ctc in deloitte now but over the next few years your deloitte ctc will be more compared to what you would be getting in scb
3. other perks like team parties in lavish restrobars and employee benefits will be better in deloitte .
4. from restructuring point of view all companies have the same formula of you dont perform you are out . heard of layoffs in both deloitte as well as scb
5.taking leave in the bank is far more easy than taking it in a service based firm . in scb you have to mandatorily take a 2 week block leave .

final conclusion :
if money is not a factor and just peace of mind is important go ahead with scb specially the new parental leave policy will be beneficial.

Hike is completedly 0 and WLB depedns totally on team. Many teams have undergone restructuirng and layoffs in prev years so it depends on the team

I have worked in a Big 4 previously and work life balance over there was pretty bad.. Depends again on project to project . I recently joined Standard Chartered and everyone talks about the WLB here as being good.. Again.. Don't know whether it is different in other projects.. But generally in banks WLB is better than in Big 4s.. Because projects in Big 4s have clients and in Banks the stakeholders are within the bank itself mostly.. So generally pressure is lesser

How is the work life balance now? I will be joining SCB in few months
