Whenever you want to add a filler word, just stay quiet. That's what I do personally because I sound like someone from the valley and I'm not even from there lol

The above advice is great but also remember that we are our own worst critics and it definitely doesn’t sound as bad to others as it does to you!

I struggled with this too, and still have to remind myself to swallow my “like”s and “um”s and just silently pause instead. Listening to recordings like that helps. Being overprepared so you have a little more mental bandwidth to devote to how you speak can help too. Make a conscious effort over time and you’ll get better at it.

It’s probably not as bad as you think.

But you’ve heard it, now fix it. Take a class if you need to on public speaking. This is fixable, and a great way to develop yourself as a professional.

easy fix. set a timer on your phone for 2 minutes. speak about any topic for 2 minutes straight without saying um or like. keep trying until you can do it.

I accepted a job offer in April to start a few months from now, post clerkship. All conflicts/background check went smoothly etc. Since accepting my offer, the firm has increased their 1st year pay across the board to be higher than my offer was (which was, at the time, what 2nd yeas got). When should I reach out to the recruitment attorney leading up to my start date? Or should I? (Haven't spoken since May) Should I bring up the salary or just assume its higher?

I am planning a switch so was going through some salary data for a software engineer. My ex-senior manager recommended me a website: Growceed.com which helped me a lot in getting clarification about a lot of things but I am in doubt whether the average salaries of software engineer mentioned on Growceed.com really that much in top MNC companies.
