I assume they misspoke when telling you it was 1 hour. How it took a month before catching on, or it never being gone over again when you first started, is kind of beyond me.

I don’t think it was misspeaking. It seemed intentional because he was there the whole time saying have a nice lunch for the hour and then after a month he changed it to 30 min
I worked in an office where you could arrive at 8 and leave at 5 with a 1-hour lunch break: or work 8-4:30 or 8:30-5 with a 30 minute break. Either way you got your 8 hours, but the number of hours you were in the building was different. I don't suppose that's what's happening here?

That was not happening here. Its frustrating because the amount of time you are not home feels like work so I think that paid lunch should be something society moves towards.
The place I worked at for a year, the lunch time was manipulated.
It started off nice, a steady hour. Then it turned into thirty minutes. Then gradually it shifted back to an hour, with the “option of taking thirty minutes”. Once the person in charge realized no one is foolish enough to sacrifice their lunch hour, she quickly mandated the lunch hour to thirty minutes. 🙄

Thanks for sharing your experience. Makes me feel less alone. Its very sad that they think that they can get away with something like this. Why don’t they just treat us properly with dignity?
Generally lunches are "unpaid", so aren't you leaving 30 minutes earlier?

Well in this industry, you document patient encounters and see patients all day so 3 hour lunch is impossible. Only way to win is to document faster.
