They need to mind their business. Build up the resilience to not care. If you work efficiently
with it, then it’s fine! Now, do hide it from
Maintenance because they reported mine
Just tell him that you need it because otherwise your hands get so cold it's harder for you to type. My desk was under a vent one year and it was known that I and other female attorneys and staff had to periodically run our hands under warm water just so we could thaw them well enough to type.
Sounds miserable. I've totally been there though where it's too cold.to type
The next time he makes the "joke", just politely ask him if he has a concern bc you noticed he's mentioned it a few times. Hopefully he'll be embarrassed and apologize bc it's such a weird thing to glom onto without an underlying reason.
Thanks. Yeah I might

“Weird that you’re so sensitive that heat would affect you that way. Bye.” Like, mind your own f*ing business, dude. I hate when people think they know what will work best for others.
Yeah same. Like it's such a control freak thing for the most random thing

“Actually I get sleepy when I’m cold.” The only response you need. It is none of his business and weird to grab onto.
Thanks and agree
I just feel like it's very much a guy thing to overheat, and women tend to be more comfortable in warmer environments, and the fact he doesn't understand that and assumes I'd react to a 74 degree room the same way he would is stupid. And people, including his underling seniors, have told me they staff me because I'm efficient. I'm getting a lot of work done. I do also bill a lot, including on his cases, but I don't think that makes me inefficient just a pushover for not saying no. And I guarantee I'd be getting less done if I left my office at 65/68. That is literally my bedtime temperature.
I have a space heater in my office and it makes me super sleepy.
I think they just try to make conversation and it’s annoying. I wouldn’t think too much of it or you can say actually people tell me I’m really efficient, do you not think so?
