If you can afford it and you like the daycare, then it’s not too much.
Know what I mean?
So many variables…can you afford it? Is it a high end daycare? Can you tell your daughter is well cared for? Is she learning? Does she like her caregiver? Do you like her caregiver? What comes with the $1900 - an app with updates? Etc
I pay $2300ish for a 2 year old for 5 days a week in Atlanta (ITP). The other options I looked at were all over $2K a month. My experience is that quality childcare in Atlanta is expensive and very hard to get a spot at. I see some stats from those in Charlotte, but from what I have heard Atlanta ITP childcare is definitely more expensive than Charlotte (I am actually from that area of NC)
Yes it is
It’s 2600/month for 1 toddler at my daycare (5 days though) and that’s with a 10% discount
I’m in Charlotte and pay $1680 a month plus and extra $144 for elective classes. This does not include 10% discount. I love the school. It’s STEAM based and includes breakfast, lunch and laundry service for blanket.
I love the staff and teachers. I hate paying it but I see the results. What are you getting for $1900 a month?
In my experience these things are hyper local. Different bright horizons in Boston/Boston Suburbs can be wildly different pricing for same hours/age just a couple of miles away. Only way to know what’s fair is to shop around to other places that would work for your family/commute/home.
I live in NYC and pay $3800 a month for 5 days
I live in Charleston SC and pay $1500/mo for part time (until 11:45am) for my 2 year old, $2300/mo for my infant
Our Primrose in Sandy Springs is $1990 for 5 days for my toddler so was slightly more for infant but I don't remember exactly how much more. I didn't find full time programs that let you go for (or at least pay for) fewer than 5 days a week though so I'm not surprised by that price for 4 days.
how is this manageable with 2 kids, that is almost $4k per month, 50k/year and a quater million in day care expenses before they turn 5...
That’s Robbery
I have a 2 year old and we pay $1200 a month for 3 days a week. We love the daycare, trust the teachers, and it’s a nice learning environment so it’s worth it. It’s not forever.
I’m in Charlotte and was paying $1,650 for my 2 year old for 5 days (they’re going into the age 4 class next month which will be $1,500)
That’s pretty close to what I’d expect. Daycare tends to get cheaper as the kids get older and class sizes increase. What suburb are you in?
Ok. We just toured a few daycares (also in Cobb/Fulton) and most were $400-$500/week for a toddler.
We pay $1400/mo for 3 days a week for our 3 year old in CT (we live in the more rural, northern part of CT).
