I made a Roth IRA cont in 2024. I was over income so had to remove excess cont of $5k in April 2025 before filing my 2024 tax return. My 2024 return shows 40 bucks excess cont. I got a 1099-R for 2025 relating to that excess cont & theres a small amount for earnings on that. Traditional IRA bal at end of 2025 was only $6. Do I file an amended tax return for 2024 with correct excess cont or is it ok to report the excess of $5k in my 2025 tax return as the 1099-R is dated 2025? Any considerations?
