Oh this happens everyday, it'd be impossible to name a specific time because I literally have customers doing this to me everyday and I've learned to not really feel pressured/guilty anymore. Even if they're cussing me out or trying to make me feel dumb, I am really pretty numb to it all now.
What do you mean? I don't think a customer always gets what they want. For example, some customers wants us to deliver some sooner or do something against the policy because they feel like it's better, and we have to learn how to explain that this is not possible. So, I like customers not always get what they want.
That happens a lot. I honestly try to get someone the best resolution for a problem, but some customers just want to make you do cartwheels for them. And in those cases I just have to tell them, sorry, we can't do that. You're right about how some customers just want to make people do their bidding, it's not even about the transaction, it's just like some oddball power trip.
I work in a liquor store. A 23 yo came in with a minor. I rejected the sale. She came in 5 minutes later by herself and argued when I rejected it again, stating that not enough time had passed for me to logically believe she is no longer hanging out with a minor with alcohol after said purchase. She states she's a grown woman. Proceeds to come back 20 minutes later with her dad, who I explained the situation to (he understood). Turns out the other girl was 19 (according to her aunt who came in too). So I said, "Ok so YOU sent a Minor in?" The look on her face.
Totally get that—some customers treat persistence like a game. One time, a caller demanded a refund after missing the deadline. No matter how much they pushed, I stayed firm, and they finally gave up. Feels good to hold the line sometimes.
