Best thing you can do is use the syllabus from scaler listed in the website and create your own content from free available resource.I dont think one need to speed 3lakh for a course.
You can use use educative. io for handson on python, sql and ml system design.
Books to follow and read cover to cover in order mentioned : 1.handson ml with sklearn and keras(Note the ml and dl from appliedaicourse mostly matches with this book) ,2. Approaching Almost Any Machine Learning Problem-Abhisek Thakur.
This will take 6-8 months to complete.
Finally register for ineuron interview preparation will be rs3000 and mock interviews, more 2 months.
Great Man, being a Data Scientist myself this is a great process which you mentioned
Go for Univ.AI instead. The course content, the professors and dedication of the team to get your goals met from their end is another level. Needless to mention the individuals from the best engineering backgrounds are already moving ahead in industry with them and if you're planning to go for higher education, the courses makes you stand way apart from the crowd and can help you choose your field.
i am a student there , you can text me
Hello. Can you get in touch?
I think what he is trying to know is- Even we are capable of spending 3L, Is it worth the hype? Even I am looking for the same thing haven't decided yet. I am in a yes no yes no kind a situation. But remember they are going to start from very basics like Python beginner, intermediate, advanced. Then DSA then into data science basics and Advanced. One such course was Applied AI course by Applied roots but it again merged with Scalar. Not sure if there are any other course competing with Scalar DSML course in market now. Please let me know if anyone has any idea. Would love to check it out.
I transition to Machine Learning after many years of senior backend position. Have added my suggestion below for both of you.
Honestly saying, if u asked me for any course a decade back then it’s completely diff story. In today’s world lot of materials available over internet! Spending money is not worthy bro / sis!
But the support they give is worth the money, you can schedule 1:1 people, who are actually working in big companies and you can request TA help anytime at any day to understand the concept again.
You can have mock interviews with techies on any topic.
Anyways depends on one's opinion
Not worth it. Two reasons. First, the amount of content they have posted on their syllabus could not be covered in 14 months as they claim. Second, the classes are horrendously long ~4 hours, only shaktiman can concentrate for classes this long, if you join this will turn into a horror show because you will be learning math. I love math, but classes this long will easily get you bored because concepts in math are chained and you need to understand/implement/practice a concept before moving to another. I would suggest Coursera and YouTube content for learning. ML/DS from Scaler academy is a big no, you can consider their DSA course though.
The short answer is No, it is not.
The long answer is:
What they give is everything in one place, collated and in the form of a syllabus and assignments. Because most people are not driven or disciplined enough, it seems to make sense to them. In the era of web 2.0, 99% of what you want to learn is available for free on the internet.
The other side of the story is that people like Krish Naik are teaching complex concepts for free on Youtube. Many people won't try to just download their syllabus and prepare each topic one by one. To them I would say Krish Naik's paid courses are hosted on iNeuron, the lifetime membership of which will cost you less than 5% of what Scaler charges.
As far as referrals are concerned, you can network on FishBowl or LinkedIn to get them. So decide for yourself.
If learning is what you are looking for then it's really worth it.
I joined back in 2024 september. It has been a really great learning journey. I've dived deep into python, tableau, sql and recently started with ML concepts. Some instructors here are really really good and make it really easy to learn concepts and apply them in real life projects.
One more thing that's really helpful is the industry level projects.
It's not worth the 3Lakhs , coz in the end what it bestows is knowledge,
Yes, if someone has 3L to spare, it'll make the journey easier...
But in the end, even they'll tell you that it depends on the work you put in..
You can start with less costly courses like padhai labs 5K course by IIT-madras professors ..
An excellent way of wasting money.
I have a first hand experience with them.
They just lure you for money and after joining the course in the name of technical, they teach you school knowledge which is absolutely free in youtube.
Scaler covers Python, Statistics, SQL, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, NLP, Computer Vision, and Deployment in a structured step-by-step manner. They also provide a teaching assistant, which is very helpful whenever you get stuck. After completing certain topics, learners are encouraged to work on hands-on projects to gain a thorough understanding of the concepts. Mentors guide students on how to stay consistent with their studies while managing a job. The placement process is also straightforward — only those who complete the module tests and interviews become eligible, which I personally like, as it helps you clearly understand your level of preparation before appearing for actual interviews. Overall, this makes it a value-for-money program.
Main challenges for Data Science roles :
1) For a beginner creating a structured curriculum is difficult.
2) Even if a curriculum is constructed accessing relevant content is an issue for even non-beginners.
3) Even if you get through the first 2 stages you still do not get a competitive environment with proper evaluation.
4) There is a gap between theory and applications. You can discuss your ideas with peers and instructors which will lead to growth.
5) Also there is job support. Of course you have to put in the effort but it definitely helps rather than only depending on connections and referrals.
Summarising,
It definitely is a good curriculum.
Now there is no measurement to accurately tell if it is worth the amount. It also depends a lot on your abilities and efforts.
For me it worked out well. I got job offers and good hikes but I have tried to be as unbiased as possible here.
Curriculum and content can be handled using Research mode with ChatGPT or Claude Pro sunscription.
The toughest of concepts can be explained in extremely east language by AI.
Placement assistance can be bought separately via Naukri Paid services of a professional job consultant.
What you're actually paying for is discipline and accountability. And frankly 3L is way too much for that.
’ve seen a lot of people ask this, so here’s my honest take. The Scaler MSDL course can definitely be worth the 3L cost, but only under one condition – you stay consistent with your effort.
The course itself has good structure, mentors, and a solid peer community. They cover fundamentals well and also push you towards building projects and improving problem-solving skills. But at the end of the day, it’s not some magic shortcut. If you just join and attend classes passively, you won’t get much out of it and it’ll feel overpriced.
The people who actually benefit are the ones who put in regular practice, complete assignments on time, revise concepts, and engage with mentors. For them, the ROI becomes clear – better job opportunities, stronger coding + system design skills, and confidence in interviews.
So my advice: don’t think of it as paying 3L for instant results. Think of it as paying for a structured environment, guidance, and accountability. The real value comes if you’re disciplined enough to make the most of it.
I joined the Scaler MSDL course coming from a mechanical engineering background with zero CS foundation. Honestly, I was a bit lost in my career and just wanted to give data science a shot out of curiosity.
Scaler eventually turned out to be a great decision. The course starts from scratch and builds up gradually, which really helped me. The mentors are top-notch (huge shoutout to Mudit and Mohit!), and the focus on real-world projects made it feel way more practical than anything I studied in college.
What really made a difference for me was the mindset shift — I went from feeling stuck to building a 500+ day learning streak. The peer group is amazing too. Everyone’s super helpful and motivated, which keeps the energy high.
Is it worth 3L? I’d say yes — if you’re serious about putting in the effort. It’s not a shortcut to a job, but if you stay consistent, the outcomes are very real. I was doing my MBA at the same time and still managed, thanks to the flexible setup.
Happy to answer more if you have specific questions
Your username makes you look like someone from Scalar doing promotions.
I’m one of the alumni of Scaler, and I’d like to share my perspective.
Honestly, most of the content taught in Scaler can be found for free on the internet. But the real value lies in the guidance, structure, and mentorship. That’s exactly where Scaler makes a huge difference.
Structured Learning Path – Instead of feeling lost in the sea of online resources, Scaler provides a well-organized roadmap that ensures you cover concepts in the right order.
Personalized Guidance – The mentors and instructors genuinely care about your growth. They clear doubts, share industry insights, and push you to think deeper.
Mock Interviews & Practice – The mock interviews were a game-changer for me. They helped me gain confidence, improve my communication, and prepare for real-world interviews.
Peer Learning – Being surrounded by like-minded peers who are equally motivated creates an environment that keeps you accountable and inspired.
Career Support – Beyond learning, Scaler provides resume reviews, interview prep, and referrals, which help bridge the gap between learning and landing a job.
In short, the money you invest in Scaler is not just for content—it’s for the ecosystem of mentorship, structure, and practice. For me, it definitely paid off. I came out with clearer concepts, more confidence, and readiness for interviews, and that has made a lasting impact on my career.
Hi, this is Mahesh. I am one of the Scaler aspirants from the DSML batch. I have recently completed the Data Analytics and Product Analytics modules, and my overall experience has been very positive and well-deserved.
My learning journey in SQL and basic Python went extremely well, thanks to the exceptional Teaching Assistants who guided us throughout.
There are many things that make Scaler stand out from others — smooth doubt resolution, strong practical learning, well-designed assignments, and business-oriented case studies. Overall, it has been a great experience that truly enhanced my analytical and problem-solving skills.
As a current student in the Scaler Data Science Course, I can confidently say that the program has been a great investment. The instructors are the highlight for me—they’re not just knowledgeable but also incredible teachers who make even complex topics understandable and engaging. I’ve genuinely learned to think more analytically and apply data-driven approaches to real problems, which has been very rewarding.
For the ₹3 lakh fee, I feel the quality of teaching and structured curriculum make it worth it. One area that could be improved is the relationship team’s response time. They’re always polite and eventually helpful, but quicker communication would make the overall experience smoother. Despite that, I’m really happy with my progress so far and would recommend Scaler to anyone serious about building a strong foundation in data science.
I think this is a subjective question. Whether it's worth the 3L or not.
They offer a good curriculum, with TAs assigned to tackle your doubts and issues with concepts. Apart from that, they also help out in interview preparation with rounds of topic-wise mock interviews. And if you're looking for work opportunities they have those as well.
Personally, I'd say its worth it. You can learn concepts on your own as well. But the option of having a one on one with TAs for doubts and even having the exposure to new work opportunities is something that works for me.
Choosing a course at this price point is always a big decision, but it helps to look at it through a different lens. If you’re just looking to learn 3 or 4 specific tools, you can find that anywhere for much cheaper.
However, Scaler is more of a "one-stop solution" for those who feel stuck regarding what to study or how to structure their prep. It solves the directionless feeling by providing a clear roadmap—from foundational concepts to the exact requirements for top-tier company placements.
Instead of focusing solely on the 3L cost today, think of it as an investment in upskilling with a long-term vision. If you prepare well and utilize the placement support, the career jump often outweighs the initial cost. It’s less about a short-term certificate and more about the structured environment and the ecosystem you need to take that next big step. If you're looking for a comprehensive path rather than a DIY approach, it’s definitely worth considering.
You can do that using Claude or ChatGPT. It will give you a focused 3 month or 6 month roadmap with the links with all the resources you need to go through. Use Research mode.
Not just that, Gemini now has Guided Learning that can help you learn any topic in very easy language using metaphors, examples, analogies and build upon it.
For discipline and accountability you can have few of your friends with same goals do this together.
