I took short term disability leave because my situation at work became untenable. In the middle I became pregnant for the first time. I’m 33 and my husband and I want to keep this pregnancy. I’m in my first trimester and suffering from daily nausea, headaches etc. at the end of my leave which trigger my anxiety and depression symptoms. I asked HR for accommodations, one being full remote work until I deliver and a reduced schedule at 80% so I could be efficient. HR came back and told me

How does HR get a say about this?

Yeah I had no idea they could overrule my doctors note

Could the issue be that STD doesn’t cover part time? I know FMLA you can request reduced work schedules, but I always thought STD was full leave. Maybe they’re saying you have to come back full but request an FMLA reduced schedule?

like

Yeah I don’t think this is it just because they never clarified and told me that

Contd: that my symptoms were too severe and that I wasn’t able to come back yet. I’ve taken 10 weeks off and I do feel ready to come back to work. How should I handle?

Yeah I did. They basically told me that based on my symptoms they didn’t think I could complete the essential part of my job despite the accommodations I asked for. They didn’t give me any of this in writing and were unprofessional af, basically I asked them what would happen if my symptoms stayed as is during pregnancy, and they said then you likely won’t be able to come back to work. I see this as a push to come back to work with no restrictions.

You get to decide, unless they’re firing you.

I just started meds yesterday and the change in my focus and attention to detail is mind blowing. My only concern is, just yesterday I had a tough feedback session with my manager around how I’m taking too long to complete my work, giving them anxiety around close deadlines. I’m new in the job (3 months in). Should I explain anything about my adhd to my manager or just wait for them to notice the change in me?
