I used to sit in my car before work, staring at the building like it might explain itself. Some weeks I was carrying everything, covering gaps no one else would. Other weeks I was given just enough hours to feel disrupted, not needed. When I spoke honestly, I was labeled difficult. When I stayed quiet, I disappeared. Somewhere between responsibility without control and schedules without logic, I realized the burnout wasn’t weakness—it was my signal to leave.

Good for you for recognizing it and getting out. A lot of people just stay and let it eat at them. Hope the next one treats you better.

Some work environments just become impossible and it's good to recognize when it's time to move on. You did the right thing, sometimes people try to hang on and it just grinds away at them. Better to make the move and don't let yourself burn out.

The burn out is real and you need to make time for yourself!

People who don’t work in retail, can never truly understand or appreciate the burnout and anxiety that comes with working in retail. How are you holding up now?

I am reaching out to you all and am looking forward to break into Investment Banking from Consulting. Applied to Goldman Sachs via a referral but my resume is stuck after HireVue. Talked to the VO who referred me and he said Goldman doesn’t hire in Q4. If that’s true and still need to be in GS, can someone forward my resume directly to the team? Their career portal sucks. TIA Goldman Sachs PS: I promise a dinner in a dance place in NY after I get hired as a sign of my gratitude 🙈

Enrolled in Stern for a few weeks.
The number of the alumni and current students that go to top consulting firms FT& summer intern are countless even for a small class size.
Stern is way more than a finance school. Given its location, do you want to spend your 2 years in a rural area or heart of Manhattan? Location is almost everything for business school. (I have a friend in Cornell that frequently travels about 5 hours to NYC for events.)

After you are stealth laid off, other than job search, what do you do? I assume they won’t give you work and even if they do, you can politely decline? How do you feel about you are not progressing anymore and seeing other people progressing in their career? I have no intention to make partner, but still feel a bit stuck not doing that much.
