So the higher ups don’t care for you much? It’s hard to come back from that. If I were you, yes I would be looking for a new job. I’m so sorry you have to go through all this.
Unfortunately, the higher-ups are not impressed with you and your manager is not fighting for you, which is the most important take here. If I were in your shoe's I would be planning an exit strategy.
It definitely sounds that way. I’m sorry that happened to you. I had something similar happen a few years ago—my boss wrote a great review, and his bosses made him change it. That’s when I knew I needed to find a new role.
They are looking to make you an escape goat. They made up a poor performance for you so they have documentation to lay you off. I would look for a new a job
That is so wrong. What is with people? I seriously do not know how people sleep at night knowing how they treat others.
I learned a long time ago that they only care about themselves. Crazy as it sounds many of them enjoy playing these games. Anyone is fair game to them. Unfortunately this type of repugnant behavior is encouraged in corporate America. I would start looking aggressively and don’t let them know that you are disappointed by behavior otherwise it will put a target on your back. I’m sorry you are going through this - you deserve better.
Happened to me in my previous job. Left a month later even with no work lined up next. Had respect for myself to not stick around and be disrespected. There will always be work somewhere.
How annoying! At least start a soft search and remain open to new opportunities, change your LinkedIn to “open to work” and see what comes in.
It reminds me a little bit of when my boss used the word confident about 30 times in my review, saying he was impressed by how my confidence has grown in the role over the last year, but then when he actually handed me my typed up review at the end of our meeting and I read it back at my desk, it said the exact opposite that I was timid and hesitant.
How was your performance compared to your peers? That’s what they look at.
Is your manager uncomfortable about giving constructive criticism?
You could request a skip level and inform them that you never received negative feedback during the year and had you known, you would’ve had the chance to work on perceived issues before your end.
*year end.
Unfortunately, this is not surprising and is happening in a lot of places. I would start looking.
You're most likely being pushed out.
Definitely time to find a new job. To me that sounds like an excuse to not give out a pay rise. Did they actually give you any real life evidence for this negative feedback?!
No, very generic feedback and no evidence. My spouse said it looks like AI wrote it.
That happened to me and before receiving pay raise and bonus I was laid off. I was working for the same company for 11 years.
I’m so sorry. I hope things turned out well for you.
Starting right now
