I’m interested in this one. He has a history of being a very conservative leaning judge and I want to know what it is that he is trying to do here.
Immigration isn’t governed by the district court system for good reason, but ICE has been unable to coordinate well with the DOJ. The DOJ hasn’t been timely in dealing with bond issues and it has caused complications several times. But the EOIR (Executive Office for Immigration Review) is who handles this, not ICE, and the EOIR is under the DOJ.
I read elsewhere that may be what this is regarding. But if that’s the case, maybe the judge is trying to fact find a bit before going after the DOJ. Time will tell. Thank you for highlighting this one. I hope they get it sorted out quickly. Maybe the Fed will be able to expedite the process more and then they could get people deported quicker.

“The court’s patience is at an end,” U.S. District Judge Patrick Schiltz said in a three-page order issued Monday night, demanding the acting director explain himself “personally.”
“The practical consequence of respondents’ failure to comply has almost always been significant hardship to aliens (many of whom have lawfully lived and worked in the United States for years and done absolutely nothing wrong),” Schiltz wrote. “The detention of an alien is extended, or an alien who should remain in Minnesota is flown to Texas, or an alien who has been flown to Texas is released there and told to figure out a way to get home.”
He’s a bush judge.
Dude, yes the courts are involved when there is a civil rights violation and crime . When ICE is killing American citizens and American citizens civil rights have been violated using a thorough investigation, which they are not doing.
A civil rights investigation into the killing of Alex Pretti by federal agents in Minneapolis on January 24, 2026, is being DEMANDED due to conflicting witness video, allegations of evidence tampering by Border Patrol, and a lack of transparency in the federal, self-investigatory process. Pretti, a 37-year-old nurse lawfully carrying a concealed weapon, was shot by agents during an immigration protest, with evidence suggesting he did not pose an immediate threat.
You MAGAs want to get rid off judges and the constitution. Trump already said ICE can do a search and seizure on anyone in these extremely broad immigration raids; violation of the 5th amendment
Many republicans have come out in disgust. These border agents and ICE tactics - they act like they do on the border. That ain’t going to work in the interior of our country.

Bush appointee, said the administration has been slow-walking or outright defying the directives of many Minnesota judges, including at least one of his own: The order for Lyons to appear came in the case of a man Schiltz ordered released on Jan. 15 but who remained detained as of Monday night.”
The judge wants ICE and Boarder agents to FOLLOW THE CONSTITUTION SND THE LAW. He’s holding them accountable- finally
That’s what our judges do. If ppl don’t like that they might be off in a country where no-on expects the law to be followed. That’s not Americans
Are you that clueless? You don’t see the correlation between living in meat packing country and all the undocumented migrants? If they couldn’t get a job they would not be there. I’ve been to Oklahoma in the summer and I know they’re not there for the climate. Try complaining to the HR department of the meat packing company. Complain to the city council. Call your representatives. Try punching up instead of down. Call ICE, they need to meet their 3,000 arrests a day. I’m sure there are thousands of American citizens clamoring for the jobs. The companies are going to have to pay more. Maybe even need to provide health care. That would solve the hospital emergency room problem you complained about. But be careful what you wish for. If costs of operations gets too high,, the companies could close like in Nebraska and your town may dry up and blow away.
